On Justice Kavanaugh At The End Of Year One

11 October 2019 @ 15:38

The headline at the Washington Examiner reads [tip of the fedora to Bill Cool Walker]:

New York Times Kavanaugh book bombs,
just 3,120 sold, Amazon rank #6,795

Paul Bedard reporting, we learn

The latest book on Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh, a critical biography from two New York Times reporters that made new sexual assault charges that were immediately undermined, has suffered an epic sales crash, according to publishing insiders.

Expected to sell at least 10,000-12,000 in the first two weeks and propel The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation onto the newspaper’s bestseller hardcover list, it has sold about a third of that in the first two weeks.

A publishing source provided the latest BookScan numbers, which can account for about 80% of sales. That number is 3,120. “If you add in ebooks — they may have sold a total of 4,000. That’s one of the most epic bombs in political publishing over the past decade,” said the source.

By comparison, another Kavanaugh book, Justice on Trial: The Kavanaugh Confirmation and the Future of the Supreme Court, which details the Democratic war on the Trump nominee, has sold 60,000 books and a total of 100,000 copies since its July 9 debut. It was written by Mollie Hemingway and Carrie Severino and published by Regnery.

Good news.

This man and his family were subjected to uncalled-for Abuse and Calumnies.

But I still worry about the Justice’s Temperament after his Embarrassing and Dismal tearful performance at the end of his Confirmation Hearing.

He sniffled and cried like a prep school brat.

Compare and contrast that performance with that of Justice Thomas when he went through something quite similar.

Clarence Thomas was Firm and held his Anger in a Manly Fashion.  You could tell that he was Upset about having to defend himself, once again, as an ‘Uncle Tom’, but he kept his Composure.

So how has Kavanaugh done in his first year on SCOTUS?

I asked Lawyer and Constitutional Expert Mol Ratty’s opinion on how he acted during his first term.  She generously offered this reply:

I think he ended up where expected: mostly a clone of Roberts who is cautious and values judicial restraint above all. Not necessarily a good thing.

Roberts CJ has been a Grand Disappointment, siding with the SCOTUS Leftists too often.  He values consensus over Strict Construction.

If Bawling Brett is following Join-Along Johnny, we’ve got a problem.  Maybe the Left scared him into being more ‘Moderate’ [which translates into being more Leftist]?

It’s a sad situation when so much Power And Control has been placed in a branch of government that was never meant to have it.

Time, perhaps, for a Convention Of States under Article V?

Kavanaugh is a Nazi, and his Führer is Trump.
