All Or Nothing At All: #RealRepealOnly

And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

Wish You Were Here, Pink Floyd

There occurred an interesting back-and-forth on Twitter recently between Jesse Kelly and AG Conservative [the thread starts here]…

AG: FYI: Any Republican that votes against Graham-Cassidy at this point is knowingly voting to fully keep Obamacare for the foreseeable future.

JK: Republicans 2011-2016: “Repeal Obamacare”

Republicans 2017: “Accept some of Obamacare or you’re pro-Obamacare.”

AG: Sometimes you have to face reality and take the best deal on the table. That’s why governing is harder than making campaign promises.

JK: Yes, but have we completely accepted that campaign promises are lies? Is that where we are?

AG: Well I think different people made different promises and many R’s are willing to vote for repeal, but not enough to pass it.

JK: So we capitulate again and accept just a little socialism? That’s how we enrage a base to the point they do something drastic. Again.

At this point Fusilli Spock chimed-in…

FS: You’re 100% right but, perfect is the enemy of good. It’s a step in the right direction. Let’s take it & live to fight another day.

AG [responding to JK’s last Tweet]: I don’t view repealing ind mandate/emp mandate, defunding planned parenthood, & reforming Medicaid as “capitulation.” It’s a step in right..

JK: It’s not a step to the right. It doesn’t reduce the government. It increases the government less than it was. Still a loss. When is the win?

AG: Depends on your baseline. How is getting rid of mandates, giving states more control on medicaid, & defunding PP not < gov’t compared 2 ACA?

JK: It’s better than what we have. But that’s not a win. A little more government is not a win for those of us who want it smaller.

AG: Sure, but you have to start somewhere and keep fighting because alternative is just to surrender to other side.

JK: You just announced the Republican platform for as long as I can remember. Hard to blame the “burn it all down” folks.

Some thoughts…

-AG: Sometimes you have to face reality and take the best deal on the table….

Sure — when it comes to issues such as cutting federal tax rates or funding federal infrastructure projects because taxes and internal improvements are matters The Constitution allows the central government to have a say in.

National government involvement in the areas of Health Insurance and Care is not one of the Enumerated Powers of said government.  So, any deal that perpetuates the Unconstitutional Interference of the national government in our Health Systems is repugnant from the word ‘go’.  Therefore, said deal must be opposed by all Constitutional Conservatives.

If the ‘best deal on the table’ is Unconstitutional, it is a bad deal.  Any support for it legitimizes the Unconstitutional act, which opens the door to further acts that are Repugnant being seriously considered.  Setting such precedents, as we’ve seen unfold in our History, has led us far down The Road To Serfdom.

-JK: Yes, but have we completely accepted that campaign promises are lies? Is that where we are?

Sadly, yes.  The whole campaign process, at every level, has become a Grand Farce, a Ludicrous and Absurdist Burlesque, a Travesty of Slapstick acted-out by Dullards.  It’s all a Great, Big Sham-Show.  Campaigns have become nothing but Reality TV Shows being acted-out, on all sides, in the Real World.

…it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

American Society as a whole has become either Silly or Insane [I used to lean to the former, but, lately, the latter looks right].

-JK: So we capitulate again and accept just a little socialism?…

And that’s exactly what passing this phony repeal bill with conservative support would signal to our Enemies [aka: the Left] — that they can wear even we conservatives down.  The Left In America has been very successful at implementing it’s Utopian Schemes incrementally, so why not use that tactic here again — especially since this time it will, they think, be easier, because the damn ACA Scheme is already implemented?  Why not let the Republicans and some conservatives twaddle-on about ‘it returns power to the States!’, ‘it’s FEDERALISM!!!’, and so on and so forth, when the Left and their Useful Idiots in the GOP know damn well Central Government Santa Claus will still be holding the Power And Control?

Starting in 1767, Parliament began passing a series of bills that are known collectively as the Townshend Acts, which primarily sought to declare once and for all that the British Government had the right to tax the American Colonies in any way they saw fit.  The Founders resisted mightily and, unlike our present-day Despots, the Government [seemingly] gave-in and eventually repealed all of the taxes except one: the tax on tea.  Therefore, the Reality of the situation was: a cheap and ultimately useless set of ‘victories’ had been won by the Colonists because the British had still preserved their ‘right’ to illegitimately tax tea, which, if eventually accepted by the Americans, would have set a strong precedent for their taxing of us on anything without us being represented in Parliament.  The establishment of such a standard would have meant that we would be stripped of our legitimate right to govern ourselves, that our Ancient Rights as Englishmen and Children of God would have been Abused and Usurped permanently.

Paraphrasing Jesse Kelly, someone like Samuel Adams would probably have asked at this point: ‘So, we, capitulate again on taxation and accept a “little” Tyranny?’

No.  We don’t Capitulate to the Left.  We must never yield, never come to terms with people who seek to crush Freedom and Ordered Liberty.  We must never give an inch to these blackguards, these contemptible Despots.

Other methods must be found to Restore this nation, not conceding any more ground to The Enemy.

-JK: …That’s how we enrage a base to the point they do something drastic. Again.

Look how well the enraging of the base worked out this time: we got a Caesar — albeit a less Tyrannical one than Hillaria Tiberius — that is ruining the reputation of the Conservative Cause, of it’s ideas, of Right Reason itself.  Our loudest, most listened-to ‘spokesman’ ain’t even a conservative.

We had an opportunity to temporarily halt the speedy descent of our national government into an even greater state of Despotism by backing an actual Constitutional Federalist — Ted Cruz — but too many of us went with Julius Caesar Superstar.

While a President Cruz would have ultimately failed to turn the central government around, he would given us time to concentrate on such measures as the Convention Of States.  While he took the slings and arrows of outrageous Misfits and Quislings and held that front, we could have advanced on more favorable fronts [and, as a sidenote: I believe, he would have been less talk and more action in matters of Foreign Policy].

Actions taken in haste in drastic circumstances, without consideration and reflection of the implications, always result in a bad outcome.  The cause we conservatives are fighting for — the Restoration of our Freedoms and Liberties — requires not only our blood, toil, tears, and sweat, but our best mental efforts.

-FS: You’re 100% right but, perfect is the enemy of good. It’s a step in the right direction. Let’s take it & live to fight another day.

What if Founding Fathers, such as Samuel Adams, had adopted this attitude?  A decent number of the Colonists did, and this allowed the Parliament and King to act even more Despotically, brought more suffering to America, and delayed our achieving a Redress of our Justified Grievances against the Tyranny of the British.

Many in America who had fought the Stamp Act, the Declaratory Act [which proclaimed: Parliament ‘had hath, and of right ought to have, full power and authority to make laws and statutes of sufficient force and validity to bind the colonies and people of America…in all cases whatsoever’], and the Townshend Acts began to drop their agitating for their Unalienable Rights because, while the repealing actions taken by Parliament were not perfect, they felt said actions were a ‘step in the right direction’.

Those British who supported the idea that Parliament had the right to tax the Colonies, encouraged this way of thinking, knowing full well that, if they won over enough Americans, the British Government would be able to eventually win a total Victory in the struggle for Power And Control over us.

Enough Americans returned to their daily and sundry concerns that the Cause for which Patriots such as Samuel Adams fought for was threatened with extinction.  Fortunately, Divine Providence shined-down again on America by making the British Government take some really foolishly-provocative actions, which rekindled the Flame Of Resistance here.  Can we expect this to happen again?  Do we want to risk it?

As a wise man conjectured: History doesn’t repeat itself exactly, it rhymes — do we want to go down this road again and allow the perpetuation of the Tyranny we live under?  Do we want to waste time, as the Colonists did, and allow even greater suffering to be inflicted on America by the Traitors [the Left] and Loyalists [the GOP and Conservative Establisments] within?

-JK: It’s not a step to the right.

Indeed: one does sometimes wish — for brief, fleeting moments — that it all would collapse right now, so we could ‘get down to business’ with the Left, but such a collapse would bring much suffering, misery, and death to this land.  Our Morality demands that we do everything possible to avoid violence [while still preparing for it, which greatly worries our Enemies].

AG Conservative sets-up a false alternative here: refusing to support Graham-Cassidy is not surrendering to the Left.  It is a self-defensive move, designed to prevent a dangerous precedent from being perpetuated any longer.  It is also an attempt to begin turning back the tide of Tyranny that is enveloping America and suffocating the American Idea.  It is an act of actual Resistance — not the dissembling rot the Pampered and Perfumed Milksops on the Left claim they are enacting by their moronic and gormless actions.

We are near the point where the shackles of our Enslavement to The State are about to be snapped-shut around our wrists and ankles.  It is time to mount a Serious, Relentless, and Detailed Resistance.  If we do not rise to the occasion, as The Founders did, we shall rightly be Damned by our Posterity, as they suffer in the new Circle Of Hell we have created.

The liberties of our Country, the freedom of our civil constitution are worth defending at all hazards: And it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair Inheritance from our worthy Ancestors: They purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood; and transmitted them to us with care and diligence.

It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle; or be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.

Of the latter we are in most danger at present: Let us therefore be aware of it. Let us contemplate our forefathers and posterity; and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. — Instead of sitting down satisfied with the efforts we have already made, which is the wish of our enemies, the necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude and perseverance.

Let us remember, that “if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.” It is a very serious consideration, which should deeply impress our minds, that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers in the event.

—Samuel Adams, writing as ‘CANDIDUS’, 14 October 1771

    Trying to be a conservative has become a fool’s errand, there’s little or nothing left to conserve. Nothing less than a radical restoration (like our founders) will do now. We were never going to get to chose between Cruz and Hillary or even Walker and Hillary. If Trump hadn’t gotten in the race we’d have been stuck with Rubio or Bush or maybe Kasich *drink*. None of those nitwits are conservatives, their party is not a conservative party. They all claim to be, especially in even numbered years but they and their party are not conservatives. Hell they’re not even principled moderates or liberals. We’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t. Might just as well do what we can while we’re between Social Democrat presidents. Who knows maybe we’ll get lucky and the left will actually revolt. Or maybe we’ll get luckier and the Fourth Branch/Deep State/Leftist Statist Uni-party will try to take Trump down and his people will rise up.

      As the song says:
      Something’s gotta give
      Something’s gotta give

      Further…
      Turning and turning in the widening gyre
      The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
      Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
      Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
      The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
      The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
      The best lack all conviction, while the worst
      Are full of passionate intensity.

      Surely some revelation is at hand;
      Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
      The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
      When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
      Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
      A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
      A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
      Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
      Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.

      The darkness drops again but now I know
      That twenty centuries of stony sleep
      Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
      And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
      Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
