Tyranny In Kentucky – #IStandWithKim Davis
A Federal Judge has arrested Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis and put her in jail for refusing to issue ‘same-sex marriage’ licenses.
The Left, as is to be expected, is praising the Judge’s move.
We have a typical example of this, as reported by Bridget Johnson:
“And every public official in our democracy is subject to the rule of law. No one is above the law. That applies to the president of the United States and that applies to the County Clerk and Rowan County, Kentucky, as well,” [Josh] Earnest said. “And that’s a fundamental principal of our democracy. In terms of how that applies to this particular case? That’s obviously something that a judge will have to decide. And I would not second guess it from here.”
Earnest said he hadn’t spoken with Obama about “this particular matter,” and was “obviously limited in what I can say, given the ongoing court activity.”
“I will just say on principle that the success of the democracy depends on the rule of law, and there is no public official that is above the rule of law,” he continued. “Certainly not the president of the United States, but neither is the Rowan County clerk. That’s a principle that is enshrined in our Constitution and in our democracy, and it’s one that, obviously, the courts are seeking to uphold.”
Some on the Right are saying she deserves this punishment because she has ‘defied the law’.
In two segments of his radio show tonight, Mark Levin demolishes this argument. The Right Scoop has both posted here.
Senator Edward ‘Ted’ Cruz is also opposed to the jailing of Mrs. Davis:
Today, judicial lawlessness crossed into judicial tyranny. Today, for the first time ever, the government arrested a Christian woman for living according to her faith. This is wrong. This is not America.
I stand with Kim Davis. Unequivocally. I stand with every American that the Obama Administration is trying to force to chose between honoring his or her faith or complying with a lawless court decision.
In dissent, Chief Justice Roberts rightly observed that the Court’s marriage decision has nothing to do with the Constitution. Justice Scalia observed that the Court’s decision was so contrary to law that state and local officials would choose to defy it.
Those who are persecuting Kim Davis believe that Christians should not serve in public office. That is the consequence of their position. Or, if Christians do serve in pubic office, they must disregard their religious faith–or be sent to jail.
Kim Davis should not be in jail. We are a country founded on Judeo-Christian values, founded by those fleeing religious oppression and seeking a land where we could worship God and live according to our faith, without being imprisoned for doing so.
I call upon every Believer, every Constitutionalist, every lover of liberty to stand with Kim Davis. Stop the persecution now
Kim Davis is not defying The Law, she’s resisting a mere decision, a court order [which is ‘abusive and outrageous’ in Mark Levin’s words] of The Supreme Court which is un-Constitutional.
She is resisting the Tyranny of a national government that has overstepped it’s Powers.
She is not violating The Rule Of Law — the Supreme Court’s ‘same-sex marriage’ decision does because it usurps those powers reserved to The Sovereign People and/or the Several States.
Kim Davis has not violated her Oath Of Office. In fact, her actions in this matter were taken so that she would not violate her oath to uphold the Constitutions of The United States and Kentucky.
Let me tell you, that every nerve must be strained to resist the British tyrant, who…is now summoning the powers of earth and hell to subjugate America. The lamp of liberty burns there and there only. He sees it, and is impatient even to madness to extinguish it. It is our duty, at all hazards, to prevent it.
—Samuel Adams, letter to James Warren, 04 December 1776
And if a minister shall usurp the supreme and absolute government of America, and set up his instructions as laws in the colonies, and their Governors shall be so weak or so wicked, as for the sake of keeping their places, to be made the instruments in putting them in execution, who will presume to say that the people have not a right, or that it is not their indispensable duty to God and their Country, by all rational means in their power to RESIST THEM.
“Be firm, my friends, nor let UNMANLY SLOTH
Twine round your hearts indissoluble chains.
Ne’er yet by force was freedom overcome.
Unless CORRUPTION first dejects the pride,
And guardian vigor of the free-born soul,
All crude attempts of violence are vain.
Your INDEPENDENCE; for, that once destroy’d,
Unfounded Freedom is a morning dream.”
The liberties of our Country, the freedom of our civil constitution are worth defending at all hazards: And it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair Inheritance from our worthy Ancestors: They purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood; and transmitted them to us with care and diligence.
It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle; or be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.
Of the latter we are in most danger at present: Let us therefore be aware of it. Let us contemplate our forefathers and posterity; and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. — Instead of sitting down satisfied with the efforts we have already made, which is the wish of our enemies, the necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude and perseverance.
Let us remember, that “if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.” It is a very serious consideration, which should deeply impress our minds, that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers in the event.
—Samuel Adams, writing as ‘CANDIDUS’, 14 October 1771
