Early 1930’s Germany = 2015 America?
Friend In The Ether Palaeomerus makes a damn good point, over at Protein Wisdom:
The nazis “seized” the young people as a national resource, gave them to the fuhrer as a birthday gift and made adults afraid to interfere by encouraging the youth to turn their parents in as traitors.
Today is much the same only they use lawyers and unofficial black lists and social media stalking instead of pistols to spread the fear. And these soft nazis piss their pants anytime someone rolls back one of their little frog boiler victories. If it weren’t for cowards and paid off patsies it would have been rolled back long ago….
We are not so different from our ancestors. We heard the same theme they did and did not recognize it for it was slowed down from a March to a Waltz. But at the end of the night we had seen our feet dressed in loafers and pumps, placed in the same depressions where our forefathers boots once stood. And having come so far already, will we stop and go no further? Or will we keep waiting for a voice to cry out and confirm the dreadful truth seen and nervously dismissed and ignored by our well distracted and entertained eyes?
Dead solid perfect.
People forget, or have never been taught [I certainly wasn’t, and discovered this fact through my own studies], that the Nazi’s spent a great deal of time and effort recruiting on college campuses because they knew their Nationalistic Utopianism would appeal to the Idealistic, I’m-Going-To-Make-The World-A-Better-Place! students who inhabit every campus in the Western World.
Here in America, with our greater tradition and ingrained habits of Individualism, the Totalitarians had to be, as Palaeo points out, more discreet, more gentle, in their recruiting efforts, but the goal was and is the same as the Nazi’s.
The adult Germans at least had the excuse that they had never really known Constitutional Republican Government. What is ours??? [deafening silence]
Could This Be One Explanation?
