The Jarrett Junto: Failure Is In The Eyes Of The Beholder

11 October 2014 @ 01:37

Stephen  Hayes believes that the ‘Obama’ Presidency is an EPIC FAIL [tip of the fedora to Stacy McCain]:

“I want to make government cool again,” he said.

Obama believed in government, and he was confident that his election would signal that the American people were ready to believe again, too.

As we approach the sixth anniversary of his election, the Obama presidency is in tatters. Obama’s policies, foreign and domestic, are widely seen as failed or failing. His approval rating is near its lowest point. Obama’s base of support is loyal and fierce and shrinking. Much of the country sees him as incompetent or untrustworthy, and government, far from being “cool,” is a joke on good days and a threat on bad ones.

But have Barry Soetoro or any of the other members of The Jarrett Junto really failed?

Haven’t they — certainly domestically — succeeded in their aims?

Yes, according to every normal standard, they have failed, but they and their fellow Leftists rejected Normalcy a long time ago, so they see success where we see failure.

To the Left In America, the Revolution is proceeding as they have foreseen.

Mr. Hayes’s article is a long one, so let me provide you with a summary:

I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.  I still don’t get it.

Too bad, because the man has a good mind.

The left must ultimately fail that is the basic premise of Let. It. Burn.

The real question is whether the ”left” or the Social Democratic Party fails first; I’m betting on the Social Democrats failing first.

One may argue that the Left and the Social Democrats are the same thing. While the Left is part of the Social Democrats coalition, perhaps the most independently self sustaining member, and obviously mostly work through and with the Social Democrats, they are also the most unruly and hardest to please member of that coalition. Most of the other coalition members are relatively easy to buy off, minorities, and unions just need some money and a little lip service thrown their way. The obvious problem for the Social Democrats is that the money is going to run out sooner or later. Further more as the available pander money runs low and the rising Hispanic population becomes more important than African-Americans to the Social Democrats conflicts between those two coalition members will increase. The power of industrial unions wans decade by decade, if the small efforts that have succeeded in pushing back against public employee unions can be built upon, union power will become a diminishingly effective part of the coalition. Any efforts at pushing school choice which is popular across several diverse demographics would be an excellent oblique angle attack against the teachers unions, the most powerful public sector unions. At some point private sector unions must conclude that marching in lockstep with every single issue constituency of the Social Democrats coalition is not in their interests. The success or failure of the “Gay Rights” movement has no negative or positive effect on workers union issues. Except by the use of illegal executive actions several of which have been overturned, the Obama administration has done nothing for organized labor. Refusing to approve the Keystone pipeline is the perfect example of placing other single issue coalition members interests over organized labor’s interests. African Americans are going to be sorely disappointed when they discover that unlike the 60s social unrest, riots in places like Ferguson will in fact not result in bags of gold being catapulted into their communities or the grubby handed NGOs who prey on them. At some point Unions and Black Americans are going to realize that they are moving farther and farther towards the back of the Social Democrats Bus.

Maintaining diverse coalitions is hard, they’re difficult to direct and maintain particularly when the various groups interests don’t always align. They never last forever especially when their single most significant commonality is wanting someone else’s money. The Republicans coalition to a lesser extent suffers some similar problems. One advantage they have is that except for the defense hawks and crony corporatists their coalition members don’t demand that much money and there are fewer of them.

There is one problem that both coalitions share and are vulnerable to. Their respective ideological bases. The Republicans are only a misstep or two from losing theirs. Passing amnesty or nominating another Romney,Jeb Bush or Chris Christie and they may as well fold the tent because all they’ll need is an umbrella.

But what about the Social Democrats leftist base. This group had very high expectations for this administration and are sorely disappointed. Why they have faith in the Social Democrats is somewhat of a mystery. The Social Democrats have been promising and not delivering for their leftist base for longer and certainly more obviously than the Republican have been leading on and then letting down conservatives. The Social Democrats have consistently letdown their base for two main but interconnected reason. First leftists are crazy, I mean clinically, medication and some institutionalization may be required crazy. And the second reason flows from the first. If The Social Democrats actually tried to implement everything their left wing wants them to do they’d be out of business in a flash. The American people would be hunting them with dogs. Will the left figure this out? The conservative right seems to have caught on vis a vis the Republicans surely the left will figure this out also.

Getting back to my original point the left has already failed because it can never succeed. The Social Democrats will have destroyed the economy and the country long before that’s possible
