The Wages Of Nihilism

22 May 2014 @ 21:40

I recently discovered the joys and satisfactions to be gained by listening to the interviews conducted by Ed Driscoll for PJ Media.  He does what master interviewers do: ask the kind of questions we would and, perhaps more importantly, ask those we should have thought of.

After listening to his latest one with Mark Steyn, which covers the re-issue of his book of obituaries, The Passing Parade, I happened upon a January 2012 interview done with Thomas Hibbs on the re-issue of an updated version of his 1999 tome, Shows About Nothing: Nihilism In Popular Culture.

As regular readers of these Dispatches know, I often try to make the case that Leftism is, at it’s core, Nihilistic, that it arises out of a profound dissatisfaction with Life as it is, a dissatisfaction that propels the believer into eventually holding a hatred for Mankind, one that he often acts on, thus spreading misery and death throughout the World, but most especially in The West.

Mr. Hibbs, in his book and in this interview, demonstrates, conclusively in my opinion, that the cancer known as Nihilism has metastasized into American Culture.

I would strongly urge you to listen to this nearly thirty-minute interview, as it is another aid in understanding the one of the main forces we are up against.

Thomas Hibbs, in my opinion, possesses a profound understanding of why we find ourselves enveloped by a Culture Of Death and why we are experiencing The Present Crisis.

He’s been working for years to become an American Citizen, but, as he’s stated repeatedly, Mr. Steyn has made the mistake of doing it legally.
