Slaves To A False And Demonic Force [Updated]

12 January 2014 @ 18:56

Sometimes I get so weary fighting this same battle over and over, but here goes…

Victor Davis Hanson is one of our best military historians, but, for all his insightfulness and shining intelligence, he is stunted in his assessments of the contemporary political and cultural scene.

In a column over at PJMedia on 06 January, entitled Intelligent Populism vs. Mindless Progressivism, he makes several assumptions, which weaken his argument and seriously damage any long-term good he may be attempting to do.

In his third paragraph, VDH writes:

The traditional Democratic boilerplatethat I grew up with (as much as a ten year old can notice much of anything in 1963) — minimum wage, 40-hour work week, overtime pay, disability insurance, fair housing, civil rights, assistance for the needy — was mostly achieved by 1970. Equality of opportunity, however, did not translate into equality of result — given differences and imperfections in human nature.

Left sadly unsaid here: This equality of opportunity so achieved laid the basis for the triumph of Leftist Thinking among Americans that began to bear ripened fruit for the Left in the 1990’s and went successfully to market in the Aughts.  This artificial equality of opportunity [more on this in a moment] infused us with expectations that were not republican.

Later on, he remarks:

Once the liberal vision of legal equality of opportunity was mostly achieved, the melodrama of ensuring an equality of result entailed….

But real equality of opportunity was not achieved — anyone who thought so, or now believes it was, was kidding themselves, not thinking it through, as it were.  They were viewing the world through the distorted lens of the funhouse mirror of fantasy, manufactured in a sterile laboratory, far away from Reality.

What we witnessed happening in the 1970’s was an artificial equality of opportunity created by those who embraced a utopian and, therefore, paternalistic Ideal [an ‘Ideology’], one that was not based on the Nature Of Man, his experiences through history.

The foundation of this counterfeit and contrived equality of opportunity is made of the ingredients of self-deception and self-delusion.

We have to face the very uncomfortable fact that most of what we have been told and what we were taught our whole lives is simply not true.  We have spent our whole lives absorbing and processing knowledge that has been filtered through the funhouse mirror of Leftist Ideology.  We have been lied to and the whole of American Society, to varying degrees, has been responsible for giving legitimacy to this ongoing, life-long rape of our Souls.

The Leftist Triumph occurred long ago, when they gained control of The Culture and were free to influence all of us through all the means of the communication of knowledge and behavior.  What we have been witnessing since 20 January 2009 is merely this insidious brainwashing ‘going public’ — before that the Left was fairly subtle about it, is all.

The situation has become so bad, so wretchedly horrid, that it has become very difficult to separate the Truth from the demonic lies.

This is exactly what many of the Leftist Masterminds sought: Chaos.  Such anarchy of the Soul allows them a good chance of convincing others that their mutated and distorted vision of Life is reasonable, especially because Leftism appeals to our unrefined — one might say ‘primitive’ — emotions.  And such emotions always come to the fore, gain more power over us, in times of disorder in Society and disorder and confusion in the Soul.

One of the ways we can begin to successfully combat this situation is to constantly question all of the assumptions we have had implanted in us and have subsequently used ourselves to conduct ourselves — one hopes Mr. Hanson will go down this road.

But we will not be successful at this to any degree until we discover and learn those things, like Right Reason, which provide the only effective antidote to the hideous disease that is Leftism.

Virtue must be imbibed; the Moral Imagination must be fed and unleashed.  Otherwise, The Present Crisis will only intensify and we will end up as slaves to a false and demonic god.

Stacy McCain links and offers his usual insightful commentary.

A highlight:

…Americans have been so miseducated for so long that many people seem to think that the document promulgated by the patriot Congress at Philadelphia in 1776 was the Declaration of Equality, rather than the Declaration of Independence.

It is self-evident that universal liberty must result in vast inequality, and that a coercive program to impose equality can only be attempted at the expense of infringing liberty. Notice I said “attempted” — equality can never actually be achieved, and the radical fanatics who urge us to pursue equality (or “social justice”) as a goal are only leading doomed fools down a Road to Nowhere.

That is also the Road To Perdition.

Equality of opportunity is embedded in the BoR. All that means is that all things being equal, everyone has the same opportunity for success. There is no equality of result, which is what progressives want…that equality of result resulting in a decreased standard of living for everyone but the select few.

There is no BoR WRoL which is where our nation is at now.

It’s an important reminder – the Left never stops. Any concession just leads to more demands.

Lyndon Baynes Johnson, the most cynical and two-faced President in my lifetime (easily making RMN seem a wilting flower child) touted his reasoning behind his ‘Great Society’ program…

“I’ll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.”

He could’ve more truthfully said “I’ll have all the morally and intellectually challenged people who make up the majority of this softening Republic eating out of our hands and voting our bidding until the damned thing is burning from coast to coast.”

LBJ didn’t say that because he wasn’t as cunning as the Alinsky Left.

We all have our failings, places where we see not as far. They come and go, and the key is to correct, firmly yet polietly, where someone is incorrect

Or be like Col. Kratman, and piss people off for fun…

Those who complain about “inequality” never mention how much Oprah or Mick Jagger earn or how little their stage help is paid. Nor do will they seem to care that Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano just signed a contract worth $240 million, nor that over 40 university presidents have pay packages that exceed $1 million. So who exactly are they complaining about? Times up: they only complain about business leaders who earn a lot of money. Now why would that be?

And their complaining is ironic because, these days, most of the leaders of Big Business are Fascists who vote Democratic.
