Post Locuti Idiotae – Elections 2013 [UPDATED]
Some musings on the events of Tuesday instant…
-While the Libertarian Party of Virginia deserves it’s rightful share of the blame for the lose of Ken Cuccinelli, they are most certainly not alone.
I agree with LBascom, writing over in the Comments section of a Protein Wisdom post:
I blame the people.
Used to be land of the free and home of the brave, it’s mostly land of the freeloader and home of the victim these days.
Social cons can’t catch a break because most of their fellow citizens priorities are, in order of importance, free shit, abortion, and homo love enshrined.
We aren’t where we are because of the DC establishment, the DC establishment is because we are become a silly and stupid people.
In other words, the people have become the ‘no other’ of the famous John Adams remark:
…But should the people of America once become capable of that deep simulation towards one another, and towards foreign nations, which assumes the language of justice and moderation, while it is practising iniquity and extravagance, and displays in the most captivating manner the charming pictures of candour, frankness, and sincerity, while it is rioting in rapine and insolence, this country will be the most miserable habitation in the world. Because we have no government, armed with power, capable of contending with human passions, unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge and licentiousness would break the strongest cords of our Constitution, as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other….
-The differences between the beliefs of the candidates in the Commonwealth Of Virginia were stark.
The differences in character between the Republican and Democratic candidates were very pronounced [McAuliffe is just pure, unadulterated sleazy slime].
In a world turned right-side-up, Mr. Cuccinelli would have won easily, but we live in an age when the world has been turned upside down, where most people arrive at their thoughts by filtering them through a funhouse mirror, where, as Winston Churchill said after the Munich Agreement:
…the whole equilibrium…has been deranged, and that the terrible words have for the time being been pronounced against the Western democracies:
“Thou art weighed in the balance and found wanting.”
And do not suppose that this is the end. This is only the beginning of the reckoning. This is only the first sip, the first foretaste of a bitter cup which will be proffered to us year by year unless by a supreme recovery of moral health and martial vigour, we arise again and take our stand for freedom as in the olden time.
-As for Governor Chris Christie: More and more I am convinced that he’s never matured beyond being the really fat kid in high school who will suck-up to the ruling cliques, fawning over them in a rather faggety way, and, when dealing those kids not a part of said ruling cliques, will play the role of douchebag tyrant.
That man-child has some serious issues.
Fat, Unctuous, And Stupid Is No Way To Go Through Life, Son.
-All-in-all it was another depressing day for those of us who want to restore our freedoms and liberties, but, well…we’re used to such days, aren’t we.
-NOTE: ‘Post Locuti Idiotae’ = ‘After the idiots have spoken’.
UPDATE at 1957…
Jeff Goldstein is dead solid perfect:
And please: don’t listen to the self-consciously nuanced breakdowns of the politics of all this. You shouldn’t be interested. Because this isn’t a game, and so we don’t need play by play men explaining the intricacies of the game to us. Instead, this is about liberty, creeping socialism and liberal fascism, and the subsuming of both the states and the individual under the control of the federal government, its corporate cronies, and the army of millions of lawyers and regulators who increasingly run this country.
