Wisdom From Bob-Tzu

01 October 2012 @ 14:05

Stacy McCain, who is back home safe and semi-sound now from his very successful reporting trip to Ohio, asks the following question in his latest blog post:

Here’s a good poll question: How stupid do they [the Left] think we are?

To answer his question in a roundabout way…

The Left and GOP Establishment underestimated Ronald Reagan. This worked to his advantage throughout his political career.

In the Left’s eyes, we are all Reagan’s now.

That is to our advantage. Don’t disabuse them of the notion. In fact, do what you can to encourage them in their misunderstanding.

This works in both war and politics. And it has the advantage of making the victory so much the sweeter when you get to see the astonished looks on their smug faces.

Very much so. They forgot sage advice from another man much underestimated, “You can fool some of the people all the time, or you can fool all of the people some of the time.”

Or to quote Churchill about being a chicken with it’s neck about to be strung in 1940, “Some chicken, some neck!”

Or…you can fool fools all of the time.

      Or…some bitter clinger, some redneck.

I’m worried about voter fraud. I hope our side is staying on top of it. We’re dealing with Chicago thugs who are experts at it.

I think a lot of decent citizens will be out there with their cameras and cell phones at the ready this time. Glenn Reynolds will certainly be expending a lot of bytes urging us to.

The left thinks we’re stupider than they are.

Actually, methinks the problem is – and this works to our advantage – they don’t have a clue as to the extent of their stupidity. And we really should encourage them in that denial. So sayeth, Bob-Tzu.

Sun Tzu: “If you know yourself or you know your enemy, you will win in half your encounters. If you do not know yourself, and do not know your enemy, you will fail in every campaign. f you know yourself AND you know your enemy, you will prevail in every battle.” (paraphrased, I don’t have my copy up on the screen to copy and paste a direct quote.

That’s the quote that was floating in the back of my mind when I was coming up with a title for this post.
