Bob’s Musings: Pecks And Thugs And Rock ‘N’ Roll

Bob’s Muse

-As you have clearly seen by the dearth of postings this week, the old ennui still plagues me, but another barrier to posting has been caused by the fact that this is my busy season at work.  From the beginning of August through around the middle of October, I often will find myself working at night from home.  Thank the Good Lord for Twitter which has allowed me to keep my creative juices flowing.  Anyway…thanks for sticking with Your Humble Dispatcher throughout this period of Black Dog.

-Over at Three Beers Later, my crazy cousin Richard thinks that Clint Eastwood’s performance the other night at the RNC was positively Pattonesque — methinks he may be right, especially in light of this post by Mark Steyn.

-BTW: Our Steyn Is An Awesome Steyn.

-William Jacobson has a video that Badger Pundit made that meshes Mr. Eastwood’s speech with the Super Bowl commercial he did for Chrysler.  The two work well together.

At the end there are several images which show the Breitbart Is Here poster.  Legal Insurrection reader Catherine commented:

I would cut out the Breitbart part at the end if it were my video. I think it would be more effective that way.

Why?  The spirit that animates Clint Eastwood is the same as the one that animated Andrew Breitbart.

It’s the American Spirit of self-reliance, no self-pity, and a belief that our rights come from God.  That we Americans are unique and that much is required of us to keep the flame of freedom burning brightly though it be surrounded by the dark forces of Totalitarianism.

-Donald Douglas has the 411 on Donnie Ray Williams, the ex-Obama and ex-Democratic Congressional staffer who has been accused of normal, Leftist behavior, er, drugging a woman and raping her.

-Question: Why do so many people refer to rape as ‘sexual assault’ these days?  That latter term seems less honest and is less effectively descriptive.  Why the watering-down of such a brutal and vile act?

-According to The Jerusalem Post, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is fed up with Obama’s foreign policy.  A highlight:

A source that participated in the meeting said that a particularly angry and stressed Netanyahu began a tirade against the US president, attacking him for not doing enough on Iran. “Instead of pressuring Iran in an effective way, Obama and his people are pressuring us not to attack the nuclear facilities,” the source quoted Netanyahu as saying.

Angered about continued US rhetoric that diplomacy needs more time to work, Netanyahu said flatly: “Time has run out,” Yediot reported.

It’s no secret that Obama wishes Israel did not exist.  That may happen if we re-elect this fool.  Millions of lives literally hang on our vote in November.

Message To My Fellow Musicians: Look, I know you’re busy.  I know that this ‘Sex And Drugs And Rock ‘N’ Roll’ thing takes up most of your time — been there, done that [don’t tell Mrs. B.] – so let me make your voting choice easer: Paul Ryan likes Led Zeppelin and AC/DC, Obama likes Rap.  ‘Nuff said.

-Let us end with some words of inspiration for Willard M. Romney [tip of the fedora to Gerard Vanderleun]:

Brilliant.

Are you listening, Willard?

The transcript may be found here.

-Live Well, My Friends…

Wait, only a few billion for the entire government?

That’s about only a few days pay for the entire edifice today.

Sorry to hear about your canine problem. That was Churchill’s phrase, y’know. Good company to keep. The Led Xe isn’t too shabby either. Crank one, spark the other, and groove on out of there.

I hope Israel isn’t forced to strike Iran before the election; I’m concerned that BHO could parley newfound (albeit temporary) support for Israel, along with pleas not to change horses in the middle of the stream, into a successful reelection bid. Please do not let a foreign-policy crisis skew the results of the election.
