The MSM: Don’t You Want Somebody To Love?

19 August 2012 @ 19:35

Stacy McCain has an excellent post up today on the subtle distortions of the Truth and hidden lies the MSM includes in it’s ‘reporting’.  Part of the reason his post is so good is because it echos my post of Wednesday last wherein I dissected a ‘report’ by Philip Rucker and Amy Gardner of The Washington Post and impressively showed [if I do say so myself — and I do…modestly, of course] them doing the same to Willard M. Romney and Paul ‘Abs’ Ryan.

A highlight:

The second alternative presented by ABC News, of factors that might “hurt their campaign for undecided voters,” is actually a repetition of Obama campaign talking points. It is only Democrats, and their friends in the media, who believe that “Romney’s tax returns” are a legitimate issue, or that “Ryan’s Medicare proposals” are a liability with “undecided voters.” The “continued scrutiny” of which ABC News speaks is coming entirely from journalists who are echoing and amplifying the Democrats’ message.

Where is the ABC News story about the threat to Obama’s re-election posed by “continued scrutiny” of the Fast and Furious scandal?

(Crickets chirping.)

At some point, blatant dishonesty from the media loses its effectiveness for the simple reason that people just aren’t as stupid as the media think they are. Once people start figuring out they are being scammed and hustled, once they see for themselves the yawning chasm between the media’s misrepresentations and the actual truth, the media constructed illusion rapidly collapses.

Indeed, it does.  However, too many of the non-stupid then go on to assume that ALL of what they’re reading, seeing, and hearing belongs in the same category — they become jaded, to use the popular adjective.

I can understand why they do, as I am subject to bouts of it.  I also understand that many succumb to the belief because they are so busy just trying to get through the day [and survive the Leftist assaults] that it’s easier to condemn all ‘the bastards’ and move on.  But, it is imperative for them to stop and take at least a moment or two and investigate who you can believe.  Affairs in all areas of life in the modern age are so complex that it is impossible to be self-contained and reach proper conclusion.  We need to reach out and inform ourselves because we cannot efficiently process all that is going on.  Therefore, we need to know what sources of information can be trusted — what ones we can turn to immediately and be pretty sure they can be trusted to relay the Truth.

Maintaining a Republic like ours requires due diligence.

More from Stacy:

…During the final 10 weeks of this campaign, journalists will find themselves forced to choose between their political loyalty to the liberal cause, and their professional obligation to the truth.

In the best of circumstances, we can only hope that those few on the Left in the media who still possess a modicum of integrity and deep-down still believe that there are absolute truths will find their consciences sufficiently troubled and be stirred enough to shout ‘Enough! Our Cause isn’t worth sinking so low’. But they will be very, very few in number [perhaps, say, Jake Tapper] and will have a very hard time being heard above the din of dastardly deceptions being broadcast by their comrades.

As for the rest, they see their only obligation as playing a part in the collective effort to bring about the Leftist End of Heaven On EarthImmanentizing The Eschaton.

That such a dreadful situation has come to pass is just another example of The Present Crisis.

I don’t trust anything the MSM does, Bob.
Even the mag rag cover saying it’s time for obummer to hit the road, I know they have an ulterior motive.

I just hope when they really see that Mitt is going to win, they will all turn on obumblef*ck and finally expose him for the scum he is. Hey, it could happen.

Indeed, the only motivator pushing them to tell the truth is for them to believe there’s no upside in lying.
