The #BrettKimberlin Report D+21 Part I: Neal Rauhauser – Curiouser And Curiouser

15 June 2012 @ 12:52

‘It was much pleasanter at home,’ thought poor Alice, ‘when one wasn’t always growing larger and smaller, and being ordered about by mice and rabbits. I almost wish I hadn’t gone down that rabbit-hole — and yet — and yet — it’s rather curious, you know, this sort of life! I do wonder what can have happened to me! When I used to read fairy-tales, I fancied that kind of thing never happened, and now here I am in the middle of one! There ought to be a book written about me, that there ought! And when I grow up, I’ll write one.’

More information about Neal Rauhauser, and his close friend Count Non Compos Mentis, is emerging from the depths of the fetid well of the Rabbit-Hole…

-Paul Lemmen has published his recent e-mail exchange with Rauhauser.  As WJJ Hoge comments:

Wow! Mr. Lemmen was certainly able to get Neal Rauhauser to open up. He was clearly using skills well honed in his previous career as a con man. I’m reminded of the title of the old TV series, It Takes a Thief.

Indeed. Paul seems to have done some good work here getting Rauhauser to reveal more intel.

Do click here to read the whole thing. As Paul puts it:

…I have included my responses in order to provide context and accuracy as well as in the interest of brutal honesty. They show that I was being disingenuous with Neal in an attempt to draw him out and to reveal more of the inner working of his mind as well as to elicit connections to other players on the opposition.

-Patterico picked up on something in this e-mail exchange:

If the emails are genuine — and they read very much like Neal Rauhauser’s unique writing style — then they appear to reveal a close working relationship between Brett Kimberlin associate Neal Rauhauser and the New Hampshire Attorney General investigating James O’Keefe.

Someone should call the New Hampshire Attorney General and ask the Assistant Attorney General who wrote the letter, Richard Head (actual name), if Rauhauser’s claims are true.

Most definitely worth pursuing.

-Late last evening, Stacy McCain commented on the part of the exchange that had been released to Lee Stranahan.  A highlight:

The e-mail published by Lee Stranahan shows Rauhauser not only falsely asserting that Patterico was “funding” Seth Allen and “used to work together” with O’Keefe, but furthermore saying that Allen, Walker, Ron Brynaert, Mike Stack and Michelle Lessick all have “psych[iatric] disabilities” or “mental difficulties.” Rauhauser says Stack “was steered to attack me – he’s another person on psych disability that Frey picked out and victimized” — an absolutely ludicrous smear.

Somehow, Rauhauser would have us believe, all of these crazy people (some of whom don’t even know one another) have been “victimized” by Patrick Frey and enlisted in a conspiracy against that upstanding citizen Brett Kimberlin and his eminently rational colleague Neal Rauhauser.

Are you aware, however — and perhaps even Rauhauser has forgotten — that Neal explained the game plan of his own conspiracy, involving both Velvet Revolution and “Anonymous,” in October of last year? Are you aware that O’Keefe has been the target of Rauhauser’s own malicious machinations?

Does the IRS consider slander a tax-exempt activity?

-Dan Collins, who has known Patterico for quite some time, demolishes the notion, born of unadulterated paranoia, that he could be The Evil Mastermind of anything, let alone some grand conspiracy to destroy Rauhauser and Kimberlin and their ‘innocent’ friends:

So, when Stacy writes that Kimberlin associate Neal Rauhauser believes Patterico is at the center of some kind of conspiracy to defame Kimberlin and cause what he characterizes as “chaos” by recruiting henchmen to his nefarious purposes, and that Rauhauser sent off a bunch of emails detailing what he believes (apparently) to be the motives and methods Patterico employs, I gotta laugh.

Dan’s post is a must-read.

He also makes this dead-on-balls-accurate point:

I’ve got more news for Neal. We’re all a little obsessive, I suppose, and most of us are a little compulsive, too, because that’s part of what it takes to do this blogging thing day in and day out for years at a stretch. Some of us get burned out, too. On the whole, though, we’re not nearly as obsessive as Kimberlin and Rauhauser. Dealing with them isn’t our idea of fun; there are lots of other important issues that we’d prefer to be able to spend our time covering, but we’ve reached the point with these idiots where we can no longer ignore their vile antics. They and their followers have crossed a line into behavior that is designed to ruin people’s lives or even end them, for the crime of telling the truth about what they’ve all been up to for many years, now. It has to stop, and we mean to stop it, and the only way it’s going to stop is that Kimberlin, Rauhauser and their associates are going to have to be taught a Very Great Lesson. We have spouses, children, families and friends, jobs and pastimes, hobbies and interests, and we are all taking time off from attending to these things as we would prefer in order to put boots on the ground to teach these assholes the lesson for which they have been begging so loudly for so long. All of those values, they have believed, have been an exponent of our weakness; they are going to find that they are exactly wrong, once again.

If Dano were a gal, I’d declare him another ‘Boudica Of The Blogosphere’, but, sadl,y he is all man [as to whether his dressing habits when no one is looking qualify him for this moniker, however: of this I cannot speak].

-Stacy filed another report this morning that further documents the unbalanced mental states of Rauhauser and Kimberlin.  From his introduction:

Neal Rauhauser is crazy and not nearly as smart as he thinks he is, and his boastful arrogance has been his downfall before. So it is again.

In a message posted in the comments of a blog in October 2011, Rauhauser explained that he and someone he describes as “a very big dog from the Anonymous pen” conspired to use Brett Kimberlin’s non-profit Velvet Revolution as a vehicle to exact vengeance on (a) his personal enemies, (b) the security firm HB Gary and (c) “Breitbart associates.”

The campaign of harassment and intimidation we have seen carried out in recent months apparently is the product of that game plan — and Rauhauser boastfully explained how he developed that plan quite publicly more than eight months ago.

I urge you to take the time to click here and read the rest of Stacy’s report, as it provides a clear view into the fun-house-mirror mind of Rauhauser and sheds much more light on his actions.  It is a tour de force of reporting and analysis — bravo, Stacy.

Patterico’s take on Stacy’s report can be found here.

-What can poor Neal do to save himself from a full and suffocating enshrouding by this madness?

My advice: Go ask Alice.

‘Who are you?’ said the Caterpillar.

This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, ‘I — I hardly know, sir, just at present — at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.’

‘What do you mean by that?’ said the Caterpillar sternly. ‘Explain yourself!’

‘I can’t explain myself, I’m afraid, sir’ said Alice, ‘because I’m not myself, you see.’

‘I don’t see,’ said the Caterpillar.

‘I’m afraid I can’t put it more clearly,’ Alice replied very politely, ‘for I can’t understand it myself to begin with; and being so many different sizes in a day is very confusing.’

Thanks Bob. Hopefully this redemption stays on the rails. Please pray for me if you can spare a moment.

      Of course.

And thank you for the linkage as well. Sorry to be so late to the game as I am not updating the post with the usual linky-love thank yous. The post and underlying emails will probably be the subject of litigation, so I’m keeping it as posted.

Oh, I’ve also added TCOTS to my blogroll.
