The Spot-On Quote Of The Day…
…is awarded to the real Most Interesting Man In The World, Paco, for this observation:
One of the most objectionable things about Obama is the company he keeps, the political and ideological cronies, like the execrable Eric Holder, who are doing their level best to hollow out our most venerable and precious institutions in order to install their leftist clockwork….
My biggest fear is: though we may rid ourselves of La Cosa Obama, the damage done may be too severe to institutions like the DOJ that we cannot make them recover their integrity. Precedents have been set that will allow future administrations containing men of shaky virtue to do things because past guardians of those offices will have opened such doors to perdition.
It happened in the latter stages of The Roman Republic.
Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free Constitution is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People in a greater Measure than they have it now, They may change their Rulers and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting Liberty. They will only exchange Tyrants and Tyrannies.
—John Adams [21 June 1776]
