Some absolutely scrumptious Unknowns, a very nice Shirley Jones, and I remember Meg Myles – a very classy character actress.

Pat yourself on the back, son.

    You have outdone yourself.

I don’t mind your taking the image and re-posting it, but please do not cut off my blog name (which I wrote on the side of the photo), or at least state underneath from where you took this photo.

      Which photo?

Go to onmemories (www.onmemories.wordpress.com) to see the “complete” bikini picture. Besides photos, I do periodically write about episodes in my life as a model (i.e., Wigged Up, My Modelling Names). Plus I am starting (just starting) to write about the photographers I have worked with on the “mature” wordpress site (www.gloriadawn.wordpress.com). I appreciate your re-posting this bikini photo so my own small blog can reach a larger audience, but it won’t reach that larger audience without leaving my blog name attached to the photo. I am corresponding with another 72-year-old ex-model who worked at the same time as I did (although I didn’t know her then) and she wrote “our pictures are all over the internet.” So true. As least give us back our names. Shannon Moeser aka Gloria Dawn

I obtained your picture from a Tumblr site. My notes do not indicate which one, but the pic I downloaded contained no information about it’s origin at your site – what you see it what I downloaded, no cropping.

If you wish, I can update this post with your information or remove your picture from the post and my WordPress archives or do a new post touting your website along with several pictures that you would authorize.

Please understand that it is my policy to always give credit where it is due and it was not my intention to slight you.

It would be nice to have my site (or sites) touted. The problem with Tumblr is that users seldom (never?) credit the sites from whence they captured the original images. It you write about me (and/or my sites) it might be nice to mention that many of those 60s models that many still admire are still alive — in their 70s now, but still alive and kicking. In the 1960s, the photos were appreciated but the models themselves were ignored. We were naive and soon moved on. (I moved on to a PhD and 32 years as a university professor.) So when I retired, and decided to write about my modeling career, it was a bit of a shock to find photos of me on the internet — after all, I stopped modeling 50 years ago. If you like, I can direct you to the site of another alive and kicking 72-year-old 1960s ex-model.

          Yes, please do.

What photos would you like to feature?

You might want to carry on this correspondence by emailing me at shannonmoeser@gmail.com. If not, why don’t you look at the photos on onmemories and tell me which ones most appear to you. (I suggest the onmemories site because I assume that you do not feature semi-nudity on your site; I do on my gloriadawn site.) Onmemories has a couple of nice photos by Ron Vogel (Gloria Dawn in blue – pick your favorite), a lovely picture by Donald Klumpp (a more “modest” Escapade picture), the Carnival and Figure Annual covers are quite popular (both by Ron Vogel), there is a nice face picture of me holding a wine glass (by Ron Vogel) or another nice face picture by Donald Klumpp. I think one picture on the gloriadawn.wordpress site would be suitable — the one by Michael LeRoy of me in a hat. It would be nice to include at least one picture of me with black hair. The photo by Elmer Batters, also on the gloriadawn site is a fan favorite but probably would not be suitable for your blog. Delilah Jones is six months younger than I am, also modeled for some of the same photographers around the same time and has just started her own web site at http://mzdelilahjones.blogspot.ca/. She followed a different career path than I did, but we’ve ended up both asking — “Why are there so many 50-year-old photos of us on the internet.” And I think that the answer is that although there was nudity in many of these photos, it was still “glamor photography” at that time — the photographers photographed the models as a symbol of female attractiveness. A few years later, the glamor was gone. If you want more information about me before you put up your selection of photos, I suggest you contact me via email.
