Satan, Laughing, Spread His Wings

"Satan has his sights on the United States of America!" Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum has declared.

"Satan is attacking the great institutions of America, using those great vices of pride, vanity, and sensuality as the root to attack all of the strong plants that has so deeply rooted in the American tradition."

The former senator from Pennsylvania warned in 2008 how politics and government are falling to Satan.

"This is a spiritual war. And the Father of Lies has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies would have his sights on: a good, decent, powerful, influential country – the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age?"

"He attacks all of us and he attacks all of our institutions."

Santorum made the provocative comments to students at Ave Maria University in Florida.

The White House contender described how Satan is even taking hold of some religions.

"We look at the shape of mainline Protestantism in this country and it is in shambles, it is gone from the world of Christianity as I see it."

Some thoughts…

-Leftism is evil. It seeks to re-engineer Man into something barely human. It seeks to make all think the same and behave the same. When any individual dares defy them, the Left, in the best case, seeks to shout the individual down and delegitimize him. In the worst case, the Left murders him. Man was made in the image of God. Therefore, those who seek to remake Man’s image seek to defy God, to rival God. Is that not the story of Satan?

-One need not believe there is an actual being name Lucifer to believe that there is a force called Evil at work in the world. Many Catholics who believe in the latter often use the names Satan or Lucifer or Father Of Lies to describe the force of Evil for convenience sake.

-Many Catholics [and non-Mainline Protestants] believe that Mainline [Progressive] Protestants are Christian in name-only because they have distorted the story of The Christ into an ideological tale. Further, a good number of Catholics know from reading and talking to the Mainliners that most, if pushed, will admit they do not believe in The Resurrection as an actual event that happened. I don’t think it would be incorrect to say that most Mainliners are the descendents of the Gnostics. You cannot be a Christian if you do not believe in the Risen Christ ― this is the central core belief of Christianity.

-Mr. Santorum does not include non-Mainline Protestants in his statement.

-The Left wants to ‘fundamentally transform’ America, as their current leader, Barack Hussein Obama, has said. They wish to do this because they believe that The Founding was a mistake, that it was the product of men who were unEnlightened, prisoners of failed ways of thinking, such as their belief that Absolute Truths exist. The Leftist is not restrained in any of his actions because he is a god, the final arbiter of what is best for himself. So thought Lucifer, as we saw in the story of his fall.

-Finally: this is, indeed, a spiritual war that is being waged in America. It is a war between those who believe they are gods unto themselves and those who believe there is a Transcendent Order. The fights over economics and politics and society are all part of the greater fight for our own souls and the spiritual health of our culture. They are all related to one another and interact with one another, affecting all things.

    A-MEN! Couldn’t agree more.

For those who do not know, Santorum’s references to the take over of our schools provides one of the most clear examples of what you just explained. John Dewey once said:

“The teacher is engaged not simply in the training of individuals, but in the formation of the proper social life…. In this way, the teacher always is the prophet of the true God and the usherer-in of the true Kingdom of God.”

By “true god,” Dewey meant secular humanism, or what the left is trying to enforce on the rest of us today. And make no mistake, Dewey thought of the teacher as the prophet of this new man-based religion. He also said:

“There is nothing left worth preserving in the notions of unseen powers, controlling human destiny, to which obedience and worship are due”

People should read more about Dewey and how our schools have been turned against us, against our children and against our society:

In the end, Santorum is correct, and it is way past time our leaders started to make stands such as this.

Excellent points! I’ve looked at our political struggle as a battle between good and evil for years,

Santorum makes ample use of the religious mythological characters of the country: God and Satan.
