Fear And Loathing 2012: Post-Cacucii

04 January 2012 @ 20:33

-Congratulations to Rick Santorum.  Godspeed in your quest to stop the Ted Baxter of the GOP.

-One phrase I keep hearing a lot of is ‘coalesce behind’.  Might be a good idea.

-StacyMcCain deserves all the praise he’s been receiving from his readers.  He has done one heck of a job covering Iowa.

-If you missed his reports from last night, they can be found here.

-His report from this morning’s The American Spectator can be found here.  A highlight:

The underdog’s victory destroyed one of the biggest arguments made against Santorum, namely the “electability” arguments offered by Republican pundits who had backed Perry or Gingrich as credible conservative alternatives to the more moderate Romney. How can it now be said that Santorum, having beaten both of those candidates, is not “electable”?

-Despite having gotten very little sleep, Stacy covered the Bachmann announcement this morning.

-As we’re heading off to work tomorrow morning, Stacy will be flying the friendly skies on his way to The Live Free Or Die State.  He filed a last report from Iowa here, but the man is suffering:

Today I checked out of the hotel near Santorum HQ in Johnston and drove down toward the Des Moines International Airport where I checked into a cheap motel. Then I went to Taco John’s and got four tacos, a burrito, chips and salsa. On the way back to the motel, I stopped into a convenience store and got a 40-ounce Budweiser. Dropped that off at the motel, then drove over to the airport and returned the Mustang.

God, I’m gonna miss that car.

Traumatic Post-Mustang Syndrome (TPMS) is a serious problem….

Understood.

-The ever-industrious Smitty has gotten his hands on a tape of the conversation that went on in The Bunker this morning and it ain’t pretty.

-Finally, Richard McEnroe makes the case for Stacy being hired by some news organization because of his great reporting skills and his spot-on punditry.  A highlight:

Stacy’s not smooth and polished and TV plastic. He’s brash and opinionated and homely as a hickory walking stick. But smooth and polished and plastic got it wrong, and hickory got it right.

Stacey may have been whipped with an ugly stick, but his brain is a Ten.  Fox, Breitbart, someone, hire the guy!

RSM did an amazing job. Can’t wait to hear him from NH. Regardless what
this guy says, Santorum was the big winner last night. And RSM deserves a lot of thanks for that.

-Thank you for not mentioning ‘The Architect’ by name – we consider it an obscene word in these parts.

-In accordance with Stacy McCain’s RULE 2…
I’ve added your site to my version of the blogroll: Congratulations, you are an official Fellow DHS-Certified Right Wing Extremist. Thank you for putting me on yours.

The one thing we can “coalesce behind” is Mr. Obama has given th republic a great big pile of shit.

Of the tiger variety – which is the worst.

I used to park my car by where the Barnum & Baily Circus appeared and had to walk by the pile of dung that was left out for the farmers was. The dung handlers told me the smelliest was from the tigers.
