The Spot-On Quote Of The Day…

07 December 2011 @ 08:39

…is awarded to Smitty, Admiral of The Tenth Amendment Seas, for this sad, but realistic observation:

…While BHO takes breaks from golfing to campaign next year, we’ll see major flare-ups in every theater of interest, as the economy continues to tank, and GOP front runners take turns making noises like they really want to trim the federal government, while putting in enough winks and codewords that the bloated DC bureaucracy knows it’s all just what you say to win the election, not any serious call for reform.

What can you say? Most of the people in this country do not get it. The GOP and Conservative Establishments don’t understand how perilous our financial and cultural situations are; the Mushy Middle, which pays attention only when they have to, doesn’t; the Wilfully Oblivious don’t give a good Goddamn about anything important; the mindless Left is clueless as ever, finding noruishment in pie=in-the-sky bromides; the thinking Left gets it, but wants to bring it all crashing down so they can build their Totalitarian Heaven.

And then there are we few, we happy few, who have picked-up the standard left to us by The Founding Fathers [who themselves numbered, at best, but one-third of the population of America in their own time] and who are involved in a series of desperate battles to save The Republic from most of the depredations and ignorance of it’s own citizens.

Deep down we, the band of brothers, know that our chances of success are slim. So many are and so much is against us. But, we are engaged in a fight for the Right, the Just, the Truth and, though the chances are that we will fail, because we have pledged ourselves to do Good, we have no choice but to fight on. I will now say the most politically and culturally incorrect thing: God is on our side. We are all soldiers in the Army of Saint Michael The Archangel fighting the forces of Evil. And, though we may be end up enslaved in some Hell On Earth to the false gods of Totalitarianism or struck down by their Evil hands, our faces smashed by their jackboots, we can take solace in the Truth that we are on the side of all that is Good and Sacred and True.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more,
Or close the wall up with our English dead!
In peace there’s nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility;
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger:
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood.
King Henry V Quote Act iii. Scene 1.

Didn’t Henry win that battle? I suspect we have let our banner lay for too long picking it up again too late.

He barely won it, against all odds.

        Will we?

Adobe, we can believe our banner has fallen, and laid for too long, and surrender to the enemies of all we hold dear. Or we can see that it still waves, and join the great forces that remain willing to fight. I for one, have never seen it fall, nor will I surrender. Shakespear’s council through Henry is as relevant now as it was when written. We have been entrusted by our Founders with the lamp of liberty. We should be ashamed if we ever broke that trust.

That’s the damnable misery of it our banner didn’t fall it was laid down and forgotten in the mistaken belief it was no longer needed.

This is why I back Rick Santorum. He spoke at our club. The videos (shot by Richard McEnroe, Three Beers Later blog) are up at The Other McCain blog under SFVRC, as well as on YouTube. He has real plans for the economy. Is pro-life (hey, he has 7 kids). Loves America. If you listen to Mark Levin and others then you’ve heard Rick and their respect for him. He is the real deal, not an insider, but as a former senator knows how to get things done. Please take the time to look and see what others are just finding out. Support Rick!

I’m taking a good look at Mr. Santorum during these next few days. So dar, I’m liking what I see. Richard’s videos will be a big help, I’m sure.

[BTW: Thanks for joining in the fun here at TCOTS – where ladies always drink for free.]

Thank you for the warm welcome (and free drinks), Bob!

I’ll be interested in what you have to say about Mr. Santorum. If the American exceptionalism doesn’t get folks cheering, then I don’t know what would. But it is his economic plans that are so stand out. Not to mention he knows how to deal with the foreign policy issues. Enjoy! Sarah Palin and Mark Levin really like him, although they haven’t endorsed anyone yet. I hope when the smoke clears with Newt, Mitt, and Perry that people will go to Santorum…a true Conservative.
