The Soft Totalitarianism That Is Sexual Harassment

01 November 2011 @ 08:43

Stacy McCain has a damn fine report up over at The American Spectator on the ‘sexual harassment’ story that Politico published on Sunday last, how Mr. Cain handled the controversy yesterday, and on how it effects the race for the GOP nomination in general.

…In response to questions Monday at the Press Club, Cain said he had no idea whether one of his Republican opponents had pushed the story – a "witch hunt," he called it. In an impromptu press conference prior to Cain’s speech, his campaign chief of staff, Mark Block, also refused to speculate on that topic. "I would find it hard to believe that anybody with another campaign would do that," Block said. "But then again, this is politics."Indeed, it is politics, where long-ago complaints by former employees can be dredged up and turned into a scandal reported hourly by the cable news networks. And it is politics, where few reporters took notice when Karol Markowicz, who worked closely with Cain on his 2004 Senate campaign in Georgia, strongly defended him in a series of Twitter messages Sunday evening. "I don’t believe…that Cain behaved inappropriately.… He never even bordered on inappropriate in the slightest," she wrote, adding that she "just can’t believe there’s anything to the charges." Markowicz called into Mark Levin’s nationally syndicated radio show Monday evening to reiterate her defense of Cain, but other than by me and the Weekly Standard‘s Michael Warren, this obviously relevant testimonial was ignored by the press. Meanwhile, on MSNBC – which showed no interest at all in Markowicz or anyone else vouching for Cain’s good character – Chris Matthews offered one of the Politico reporters "congratulations on breaking this story."

The Winston Smith Media is out gunning for this man, but this indisputable fact should not divert our attention away from also considering that one of Herman Cain’s rivals for the Republican Nomination may have fed the story to the WSM.

While their is no evidence of where this hit came from, I can tell you that, after being around politicians and pundits for over thirty-five years at all levels, I’ve seen many instances where a Rove-like figure [ie:
someone high-up in a campaign organization] merely says to a reporter for the other side ‘Six words: Cain, National Restaurant Association, Sexual Harassment’ and walks away. Any honest reporter will tell you this happens. The operative does it this way instead of anonymously because, if the story pans-out and the reporter scores with an exclusive report, he now owes the operative. Such is The Way Of The Politico [pun intended].

This whole sexual harassment phenomenon is nothing but a form of Soft Totalitarianism, designed to intimidate companies and men. It was devised by that most notorious and aggressive of Leftist agitators: the Feminists. It was endorsed heartily by the Alkinsy / Cloward-Piven contingent of the Left because it’s implementation aids in the fostering and festering of Chaos in The Culture.

If you doubt that this stinks of Totalitarianism, my present to you the typical case of Charlie Martin. The following is the posting he published over at The PJ Tatler yesterday:

Back in the early 90′s, I was teaching at Durham Technical Community College while I was in grad school.

One day, one of my students, who normally wore sweats and jeans — as I did — came in wearing hose and heels, a cute denim skirt, and a white-and-aqua sweater with silver threads in it.

I said “Nice outfit! That’s a pretty sweater.”

The next day, I was seeing the Dean in Charge of Spanking Lecturers. Seems I’d said “something offensive”. She couldn’t tell me who had complained so I could apologize, what I’d said, as that might identify who had complained, but that I’d better apologize tout suite and I’d better watch myself.

Remember that when you hear about Herman Cain.

Accusations made anonymously. The accused is not allowed to confront his accuser. The accused is assumed to be guilty. The accused is ‘strongly urged’ to confess his sins. Hmmm…where have I seen that before? Oh, yeah!…in Soviet Russia and still, today, in Red China. Well then….that makes it okay in Obama’s America.

About 12 years ago, I attended a mandatory sexual harassment seminar. I sat silently as they went through the whole ‘what she perceives’ BS [of
course, they had to mention gay fellows, as well].

During the question period I asked: ‘Considering how you don’t know if something you say is going to be taken by the other person, is it best to just say nothing to your co-workers outside of strictly business matters?’ The woman answered: ‘Yes!’.

It truly is a world turned upside down.

If buttercups buzz’d after the bee
If boats were on land, churches on sea
If ponies rode men and if grass ate the cows
And cats should be chased into holes by the mouse
If the mamas sold their babies
To the Gypsies for half a crown
If summer were spring
And the other way ’round
Then all the world would be upside down!

Stuff like this makes me seriously consider getting a place out in the country and hide out there.

Northern Minnesota, where at least there’s fishing. A man can live a long time on pan fried walleye.

I know there’s plenty of lakes in NH, but I know nothing ’bout fishing — perhaps I should learn.

    It’s all about “feelings” now.

The left is so anti-intellect all they have is “feelings.”

How do you feel? Do you feel okay? Do you feel outraged?

    Bah humbug I say.

People get offended because they WANT to be offended.

And then laws are enacted to enable these people who get offended at the drop of a hat.

Dead solid perfect, both of you.

Once those laws are enacted, then the extortion begins.

…as I keep saying, the strongest supporters of totalitarian sexual harassment laws are the same people who turned Valentine’s Day into Vagina Monologue Day, set up sex workshops on campus, and believe that it’s only the patriarchy that makes women soft, gentle little doves.

It makes sense, Roxe. These are the same people that believe man is destroying the climate. In both cases, they’re denying nature…and, as I learned in the 1970’s when I was but a lad: it’s not nice to fool with Mother Nature.
