At The Turn Of The Tide

You are the only folks keeping the barbarians from the gates . . . the other side has declared war on labour’s house . . . You are the only non-governmental power that has the power and the capacity to stop this onslaught.

EXHIBIT #2: Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa, Jr. at 05 September Detroit union rally where Obama spoke [courtesy Real Clear Politics]…

“We got to keep an eye on the battle that we face: The war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And you know, there is only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They’ve got a war, they got a war with us and there’s only going to be one winner. It’s going to be the workers of Michigan, and America. We’re going to win that war,” Jimmy Hoffa said to a heavily union crowd.

“President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let’s take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong,” Hoffa added.

FOR THE PROSECUTION: Freedom’s Attorney General Jeff Goldstein

Evidently, Hoffa Jr, Obama, and the union leadership goon squads think they can sell the TEA Party to the nation as dangerous vermin in need of a good old fashioned hard-hat stomping — as if these are the heady days of 1970, and Peter Boyle is union man Joe, stompin’ on some hippies[*].

Listen to the rhetoric coming even from Congresspeople on the left — not just organized labor goons, “sober” academics, or flaccid white leftwing bloggers playing at keyboard commando — and it is clear that Obama and the progressives, erstwhile so concerned over the need for “civility,” are preparing the ground for civil unrest in 2012, laying the framework in which the racist anti-government anti-worker anti-immigrant anti-gay anti-woman extremist TEA Partiers are targeted for attacks, both physically and by way of an orchestrated propaganda campaign engaged in jointly by establishment political leaders and the mainstream press.

The physical attacks will be perfunctorily condemned, but in the same “intellectual” way the 911 attacks were condemned on the Marxist left: yes, violence is wrong, we’ll be told, and we’re not in any way supporting the attackers. BUT, the attacks are merely blowback against the racism, extremism, xenophobia, etc., of those who insist on following flawed documents, and cutting spending (which amounts to voting for dirty air, dirty water, unemployment, starving children and old people, an end to public education, etc., etc.).

The entirety of Obama’s life and political career were necessarily leading to just such a moment — and it was easy to see for those who were only willing to open their eyes.

This is who the left is. It has always been thus.

Dead solid perfect.

This, they believe, is their moment, when destiny has called the, to deliver us a knockout blow so vicious that we will stay down for the count and never trouble them again in any major way.

And this is what Obama wants.  As Stanley Kurtz wrote in the very well-researched Radical-In-Chief:

So it’s no coincidence that a president who won on a promise of post-partisan reconciliation has polarized the country at least as sharply as his predecessors — arguably more so.  That is how community organizers operate.  The real challenge is to make out the larger plan behind Obama’s targeting operations.  For socialist organizers, polarization isn’t just a tactic — it’s a strategy….  [page 372]

Later, Mr. Kurtz offers his theory as to what the larger plan is:

In short, President Obama’s long-term political plan is a replay of Michael Harrington’s socialist realignment strategy.  Obama’s goal is to polarize the country along class lines, with Republicans marked out as the aggressors.  Harrington’s bet wat that, once the have-nots began to act as a unified class, they would naturally gravitate to socialism.  Whatever the short-term political risks of this strategy, the potential long-term gains would be worth it, in Obama’s mind.  If the Republicans take power in the mid-term congressional elections [Bob: as they did in the House; the book was published in 2010], that only sets up the ultimate battle during the presidential race of 2012.  With the repeal of health-care reform and the rest of the Obama agenda on the line, the president hopes that a newly energized base of public employee unions, minorities, and the poor will outmatch the coalition of “haves” trying to take their benefits away.  A this point, the relatively dormant legions of Organizing for America and the vast new government-funded army of AmeriCorps volunteers would spring into action.  America’s budding social-democratic movement would come to life.

Ultimately, th success of this strategy depends upon blue-collar workers voting according to what the left considers to be their economic interests, rather that on cultural issues.  The hope is that this can be accomplished in a country increasingly polarized along class lines — with a newly expansive government allied with labor.  [pages 385-386]

This fits in with what Jeff has written, but I think Mr. Kurtz makes an error in not mentioning that this fight will involve planned violence [perhaps, being a civilized man, he could not conceive back in 2010 that they would sink that low].  However, I think Mr. Kurtz was a prophet.

I agree that Obama’s Army will be made up of blue-collar workers, minorities, and what the statisticians call ‘the poor’, but there will be plenty of government employed white-collar union workers who will join their cause.  All of them will be spurred to action by the fear of losing their seat on the gravy train.

We on the Right made a huge mistake when we took our eyes off the union movement after their spectacular decline in the 1980’s.  A number of things happened right under our diverted eyes:

1) The union bosses retreated and regrouped, forming new union divisions made up of primarily government employees.  They did so while still working to placate their long-time veterans in private industries such as the UAW and communications industry.

2) The Committed Radical Left infiltrated and gained control over the unions [Richard Trumka is a perfect example as he was part of the team leading the AFL-CIO that revoked the organizations rule against allowing Communists to be members].

The Unions are Obama’s SA [I’m sorry, I don’t think that’s too strong of an analogy to make], his stormtroopers, and he will not be afraid to use them in any way he feels necessary to achieve his ends [Sit vacuus dedecus; sit vacuus mores].

As Jeff wrote in another, equally incisive posting:

We are a country in the midst of a civil war. It’s just that some of us haven’t yet realized it.

Exactly– the left has always been about class warfare, violence, and chaos in general. It shows the pathology and emptiness of their worldview.
