Fear And Loathing 2011: What Makes Sarah Run / Hangin’ With The Phat Pack

05 September 2011 @ 20:18

-Stacy McCain and Pete DaTechGuy are covering the events this weekend up in the Live Free Or Die State.

-This morning, Stacy filed another report on the events of last evening at the Tea Party Express rally where Mandate Mitt spoke.  It’s filled with videos, including an anti-Mitt NH State Senator, Ann Romney, and Willard’s speech.

-Pete posted a video interview he conducted with a Palin supporter yesterday.

-Stacy filed a report on Sarah Palin’s speech today in New Hampshire, with pictures and video.

Pete did too.

-Dan Collins [The Conservatory] and Jay Tea [Wizbang] were there and both filed good reports from the impromptu bloggers row Stacy and Pete set up [call them ‘The Phat Pack’].

From Dan [who doesn’t think Mrs. Palin will run][emphasis mine]:

I could bore you with particulars of her speech, but I’ll just say that in her very direct, impassioned, but low-key way, her message was very subversive. Career pols have to go. They haven’t the ability to control themselves with regard to spending. The Republic is the People, nothing more and nothing less. She’s just the messenger. The struggle that the TEA Party represents is existential[.] The TEA Party is the nation’s real grassroots movement. Obama is a SCOAMF, and the media failed to vet him, but they were certainly generous with the vetting of her, even if it consisted in fables.

From Jay Tea [after mentioning that she didn’t use a teleprompter]:

No, Palin didn’t announce anything. And I am still a little turned off by her cornpone. But damn, the woman has presence and charisma. Also, I encountered no security (other than some bored-looking Manchester cops) and was within arms’ reach of her at one point, and less than twelve feet away during her entire talk.

-Jay just filed a report once he got home that has some good pictures and contains his assessment of his fellow Phat Packers.

-In a quickie report filed this afternoon, Stacy reports on the bubbling-up movement that is ‘SCOAMF Nation’ [there’s even a website now].

-In a related matter: from the Los Angeles Times, Robin Abcarian reporting, we learn [tip of the fedora to Wombat Socho’s Live At Five] that the Palins showed-up incognito at the Storm Lake, Iowa half-marathon, which Mrs. Palin ran.

Whether she runs or not her attack on “Crony Capitalism” is right on target, and at least until one of the other candidates realizes how powerful that issue can be, it’s all hers. Just about everyone, left, right and center feels crony capitalism is unfair and one of the most pernicious evils in our social and economic lives or at least most people think they do. Sarah Palin is the only politician beating that drum, at least for the moment and run or not she needs to pound the hell out of it. This issue if properly articulated could be as big an issue as jobs.

That SCOAMF site is just filled with SCOAMF goodness that acronym needs to become a household word, the Hitler Realizes video is the best since Hitler fantasy football vid.

I think you’re right – the theme resonates. It’s chock-full of bad guys.

The goal is to break the back of the ecclesial/academic/media/bureaucratic monopoly that killed John F. Kennedy and has been sucking power into the federal system ever since. Sarah Palin is the only religious/moral/political personality of national and international prominence who embodies that goal.
