The Spot-On Quote Of The Day…

18 July 2011 @ 13:53

…is awarded to Mark Steyn for summarizing brilliantly the whole silly sham show we have been witnessing these past new weeks in Washington:

Nothing good is going to come from these ludicrously protracted negotiations over laughably meaningless accounting sleights-of-hand scheduled to kick in circa 2020. All the charade does is confirm to prudent analysts around the world that the depraved ruling class of the United States cannot self-correct, and, indeed, has no desire to.

Neither side is really serious about solving the tremendous and problems we face in regards to the spending spree government at all levels has engaged in since the New Deal and is now coming to bit us deeply in the arse.

The Democrats, especially, are flat-out lying when they say want to correct the situation. No…they want the whole system to collapse so that they can rebuild it in their own fevered Marxist image.

The Republicans are the Useful Idiots in this whole Dance Of Death, hiding behind the false curtain of pragmatism, when, in fact, they are the willing puppets of a system they desperately [for some strange reason] want to preserve.

The sad reality is this: however this story ends, it will not end happily for those of use who want to see America restored to fiscal health and sanity. I fear the patient may be terminal.

Mr. Steyn writes:

There is something surreal and unnerving about the so-called “debt ceiling” negotiations staggering on in Washington. In the real world, negotiations on an increase in one’s debt limit are conducted between the borrower and the lender. Only in Washington is a debt increase negotiated between two groups of borrowers.

Actually, it’s more accurate to call them two groups of spenders….

The lender is us, of course, and many of us are demanding further charges to the credit card be refused, but too many don’t give a good Goddamn or blithly buy into the Bolshevik bromides or have become so addicted to the government crack and are still in the denial stage that they only care about preserving their ‘free’ fixes.

Could This Be One Explanation?

Ha! Yes, I heard this discussion, too! LOVED IT! The Lenders are the ones to SET the debt limit, just like banks set credit limits on our credit cards. They – the liberals – will do ANYTHING, say ANYTHING to deny and pass off their responsibility to CUT SPENDING! Pathetic!

Barb: I wonder if enough of us Lenders got together, we could open a debt collection agency?
