With ‘Friends’ Like These…

In a Diary entry over at Red State, out and proud pagan Rob Taylor has published an essay entitled The Death of Morality and the End of America, wherein he tries to defend the basic values of Western Civilization, but scolds the Right for being tainted by the moral relativism of the Left.  Taylor then launches an attack on Stacy McCain [who I’m coming to believe is the Sarah Palin of The Blogosphere]

Stacy McCain has all the details and links here, and defends himself very well against this uncalled for and ignorant attack.  A highlight:

Rob Taylor goes on with his jeremiad:

America is not salvageable . . .because the majority of Americans have accepted subjective morality. Incest, rape, child murder and exploitation of children can all be rationalized and justified in our society by a people so debased that they promote our moral decay as “progress” or “liberty” and vilify any voice that espouses Western moral tradition.

Bullshit. You have composed this entire 1,392-word treatise for no other reason than your self-serving motive of taking a cheap shot at me (and Donald Douglas, although I don’t know what grievance you bear against him). I certainly am not an advocate of “subjective morality,” and need no pharisaical sermons from a pagan.

Indeed.  We don’t.

What has motivated our so-called ally in our defense of The West to denounce and demean Stacy McCain?  I this RSM has the best explanation:

This is an old grudge of Taylor’s, whose unexplained hatred of me goes back at least to September 2009, when he chose the occasion of the Great LGF Flame War to dogpile on me. Then last December, Taylor used his posting privileges at David Horowitz’s NewsReal blog to compare me to serial killer John Wayne Gacy (!), and when I objected to his malicious defamation, Taylor doubled down, calling my blog a “little LGF like cult of degenerates, ‘Men’s’ movement sissies and neo-nazis,” calling me a “liar” and gay-baiting me (!!) to boot.

The title of Taylor’s post mentioned above was Hate Mail! Neo-Confederate Stacy McCain Groupie Calls Me Depraved Chickenhawk.  Taylor’s use of that tired old charge, that Stacy is somehow a raaaaacist, un-Reconstructed Confederate immediately renders his standing as a man to be taken seriously very suspect.  If you want to smear Robert Stacy McCain, revive the old false charges that he is a SS/KKK member-in-good-standing minus the jackboots and blanket, hiding in plain sight, corrupting his ‘cult of degenrates’ [of which I am one] — it’s a tactic well-used by the degenerate Left.  Oh!  Wait!  But Mr. Taylor claims he is not infected with the Leftist cancer…and Mr. Taylor is an honorable man [and pagan].

Please do take the time to read Taylor’s piece and then Stacy’s.

We need more people defending the glories of Western Civilization because it is under constant and deadly assault from without and, more importantly and sadly, from within these days. At least a millennium ago, when the Mohammedins were at their fiercest, we only had to contend with serious threats from them, and not from the plethora of self-hating and traitorous Westerners that we face today from inside the gates of Christendom.

However well argued Taylor’s points may be [and a few are, but get lost in his obvious sputtering anger], he forever taints them with his unseemly and despicable attack against Stacy McCain. Such a move makes me deeply suspicious of his motives in taking up the defense of The West. He delegitimizes any worthy points he makes by such dishonorable actions.

Dear Mr. Taylor:

It’s hard enough as it is fighting to preserve The Camp Of The Saints & The Beloved City; we don’t need any of it’s residents providing aid and comfort — and ammunition — to our enemies, both foreign and domestic. Apologize or forever bear the stain of your sullying of a good and decent man.  Or is apologizing against your pagan beliefs?

Finally: Could This Be One Explanation?

Cordially…

Can I join the cult of degenerates? Is there a T-shirt?

What in the name of all that’s gracious is a “pagan?” I’ve heard of mermaids and cloud castles and hateful humorists, but I’ve never heard of a “pagan.” I have heard of apostates and heretics, and tyrants and posers. And I have heard of savages. But I’ve never heard of a “pagan.” There is a lovely Celtic name for females, Pegeen, meaning Pearl. But what in hell is a “pagan?” A faux pearl? A misanthrope? A pretense? A psychotic? A rakshasa? There is no theological or philosophical tradition in human history that values or promotes anything called “pagan.” Nothing named “pagan” has ever been accorded respect as substantial, estimable. It must be a joke, a deceit, a conceit. Perhaps?

Steven: If Stacy approves of the name, I may just have some made up, as I’m working on some WOLVERINE chatkas.

Rev: Am I correct or not, but did not this whole modern pagan thing start in the late 18th or early 19th Century? Has it not been revealed that it is not historical, except for some very general details? I defer to your knowledge as a man of the cloth [although, frankly, it really needs a dry-cleaning — phew!].

Bob, I think you’re right about the whole pagan thing.

What a weird attack on Stacy McCain…

Karen: There are some people who have joined the fight to restore our freedoms and liberties who seem to have some issues to work out.
