The TCOTS Douche Nozzle Prize… [Updated Below]

08 June 2011 @ 10:40

…is awarded to Ed Rollins, one-time important strategist in conservative campaigns and a Republican Who Mattered, who is now just a has-been trying to recapture old glories despite the fact that it’s way past his expiration date and he’s starting to stink up the joint.

It was announced on Monday that Eddie has signed-up with Michele Bachmann’s Campaign and the old coot wasted no time in proving that he should have never been allowed out of The Home.

From The Daily Caller, Jeff Poor reporting:[tip of the fedora to Memeorandum]

…Rollins, with his own history of playing offense in presidential campaigns, took a few shots at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who could be a potential rival for Bachmann. “Sarah has not been serious over the last couple of years,” Rollins said. “She got the vice-presidential thing handed to her. She didn’t go to work in the sense of trying gain more substance. She gave up her governorship. You know, I think Michele Bachmann and others have worked hard. She has been a leader of the Tea Party, which is a very important element here. She’s an attorney, done extraordinary things with family values and what have you. So I think she will connect. She’s a great, great communicator and I would say in the race right [now] today, she is probably the best communicator.”

Way to go, Eddie. Insult the Sarahnator, won’t ya. Call the leader of the Restoration frivolous, Captain Dunsel.

What A Douche Nozzle.

TCOTS will be sending you your engraved ‘Reddie’* via pony express. It’s our understanding we should address it to the Dog Track.

NOTE to Mrs Bachmann: Put this fool in his place – NOW.

UPDATE at 1647…

-I don’t know what the Hell possessed Mrs. Bachmann to hire this has-been who has a history of putting his foot in his mouth and relying on tactics that may have worked in the 1970’s and 1980’s but are not suited at all to the reality of these times.  William Jacobson is not pleased at all:

The profound mistake Bachmann made by bringing Ed Rollins on board cannot be overstated….

Salon.com gets it right, Rollins is instigating a fight which is damaging to each candidate and the Republican Party….

Please do take the time to click here and see his full explanation which is spot-on.

-I’ve followed Republican politics since the 1970’s, so I’ve been able to watch Rollins for over three decades, and I can tell you that he has always been out for Ed Rollins first and foremost, with whatever candidate is paying his salary a distant second.  That he hasn’t changed his MO is evident by Professor Jacobson’s statement of fact later in the same posting:

Rollins has put Bachmann in a horrible position. If she sticks with him, she damages if not completely destroys her campaign; if she reverses the error and lets him go, she’ll be portrayed as having caved in to Palin’s supporters and Rollins will use it as a launching pad on the TV circuit to bash Palin some more.

She really should have listened to those of us who have been telling her to stage a coup against Cryin’ John Boehner.

-Over at Politico, Maggie Haberman reports that DN Rollins won’t apologize.  A highlight from her report:

“As far as we’re concerned, it’s not” an ongoing fight, he insisted. “This was my one comment, which I shouldn’t have made, at the end of the day this has nothing to do with Michele, Michele’s campaign, or any of the rest of it. This was my transition from being an analyst to a political strategist, and I missed a step.”

Yeah and you fell down the stairs and can’t get you’re ego up.

Hey Eddie, the Dog Track called and they want you to know the Early Bird Special has started.

But, the DN couldn’t leave it there: he then had to try to Weiner his way out of the situation:

Rollins had suggested to POLITICO that Bachmann would fare well in a Palin contrast, and told a radio interviewer that the former vice presidential contender is “not serious.”

Of Team Palin’s call for a retraction, he said, “What’s the retraction? I say she’s serious?”

See the quote from The Daily Caller report above.

What A Lying Weasely Douche Nozzle.

-Message to conservative elected officials, party officials, and pundits: DON’T F–K THIS UP!

-The Memeorandum thread is here.

Rollins is just doing what his boss tells him to do. Bachman has to take swings at Palin to make herself stand out in the prez field.

Now, just because I understand the motivation behind the criticism doesn’t mean I have to like it.

I like Bachmann but hiring Rollins was a mistake, she should fire him! Probably wouldn’t vote for her anyhow, but if she keeps him, really wouldn’t!
