Did You Hear The One About The Jihadi Attack In San Diego?… [Updated Below]

25 February 2011 @ 18:05

…No?  Well, you’re not alone.  The MSM certainly didn’t cover it.  I meant to last week, but failed to.

Fortunately, Steven Givler did in a posting that is a damn fine bit of succinct reporting, analysis, and commentary.

WHAT HAPPENED:

My friend in the blogosphere Eric Dondero published this report about an Egyptian cab driver living in San Diego who drove his cab into a crowd outside a nightclub on 12 Feb. Reports say 30-some people were injured, two-thirds of them seriously. One woman may have had a leg amputated as a result.

As Eric points out, journalists are largely failing to mention that the driver in question, who some are calling “Sam Daley,” but who is actually named Osama Hassan El-Darandaly, is a devout Muslim. After his cab stopped, he tried to continue his attack with a pair of scissors.

The press are also inferring that his attack may be linked in some way to financial woes, as it appears his house is being foreclosed upon.

Typical behavior by the MSM.  They always seem to follow their MO.  I well recall the case of Aasiya Z. Hassan, who was beheaded by her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, in 2009.  The MSM, when they didn’t attempt to ignore the story, tried to portray it as just another case of domestic violence [see Michelle Malkin’s reports, with links, here and here]*.

THE REALITY:

Please do take the time to click here and read Steven’s full post.

UPDATE at 1901…

SOME THOUGHTS:

-One doesn’t have to be part of some official group to perform Jihad.  The Koran demands that each individual Muslim perform acts of Jihad**, that he justify his love for Allah by enslaving or murdering infidels.  Why do many people see it as impossible that a Mohammedin would decide, in the absence of fellow Muslims he can form a cabal with, to act on his own to fulfill his obligations to Allah?  Every speech I’ve read by an imam where the subject is Jihad speaks of the individual’s responsibility to conduct Jihad.

-I think some of us [and I’m speaking of American citizens as a whole here] just don’t want to face the grave threat that Islam poses to the Western Way Of Life.  To admit the Reality would force one to have to shed their pampered, Kumbaya cocoon and confront the Truth that the world is made up of non-Western peoples who want to kill us and that we have to either beat them into submission or kill them.  If The West collapses it will be because we refused to stop acting like the spoiled brats we are [please read Irish Cicero’s wonderful essay on this subject here].

-Regarding that Mohammedin, Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, who the FBI just arrested for plotting to bomb various targets in The United States [Stacy McCain has some background here]: the MSM was faced with a dilemma.  The facts of what he is charged with are crystal clear, so they can’t ignore them, but they don’t want to realize that Islam wants to kill us.  What to do?  What to do?  Robert Spencer informs us of their solution:

Here we go again: a Muslim attempts to mass-murder non-Muslims, and Muslims turn out to be the victims. In a sane world, Irie Price would be writing about how the Muslim community in Lubbock was working hard to prove its loyalty to American Constitutional values, instituting programs to teach against the understanding of Islam manifested by Khalid Aldawsari, etc. Instead, they’re the victims, as always. Mainstream media journalists are drearily predictable in their readiness to retail this line. It is remarkable how it never seems to occur to any of them to ask even the most basic probing questions about what these poor victims actually intend to do on their side to try to prevent future Khalid Aldawsaris, and thereby head off this frightening “backlash.”

The mainstream media story about Muslim fears of a backlash (that never seems to materialize) after the uncovering of a jihad plot is so common that I pasted that entire paragraph above from an earlier Jihad Watch post about backlash fears in Portland after the arrest of would-be jihad mass murderer Mohamed Mohamud. All I had to do was change the names. The mainstream media procedures in these cases are locked in place and utterly foreseeable — as are the deceptive talking points of the Islamic spokesmen quoted in the “backlash” stories.

No surprise here.  The only satisfaction one can take from all of this is: if the Muslims do take over in this country, the first persons they will brutalize and then kill will be these bastards.

Please do take the time to read the whole of Mr. Spencer’s extensive and insightful report and commentary which also includes quotes from The Koran on the obligation of every single Muslim to conduct Jihad.

-God Bless And Protect Robert Spencer.

* The trial just ended.  From the New York Post of 07 Feb. instant:

The founder of a Muslim-oriented New York television station has
been convicted of beheading his wife in 2009.

Muzzammil “Mo” Hassan never denied that he killed Aasiyah Hassan
inside the suburban Buffalo station the couple established to
promote cultural understanding. A jury on Monday rejected his
claim he was the victim of spousal abuse.

Hassan acted as his own lawyer during the trial in Buffalo.

** From Jihad Watch’s Gregory Davis’s Islam 101 [emphasis mine]:

Jihad literally translates as “struggle.” Strictly speaking, jihad does
not mean “holy war” as Muslim apologists often point out. However,
the question remains as to what sort of “struggle” is meant: an inner,
spiritual struggle against the passions, or an outward, physical struggle.

As in any case of trying to determine Islamic teaching on a particular
matter, one must look to the Quran and the Sunnah. From those
sources (see above) it is evident that a Muslim is required to struggle
against a variety of things: laziness in prayer, neglecting to give
zakat (alms), etc. But is it also plain that a Muslim is
commanded to struggle in physical combat against the
infidel as well.
Muhammad’s impressive military career attests to

the central role that military action plays in Islam.

The truly preposterous part of this is we the taxpayers paid for this latest example of Muslim out reach to us under a program Bush instigated to bring More Saudi students here.

Adobe: If Westerners get to write the history of these times, I think they will point to President Bush’s outreach to Islam as one of his gravest blunders [that and not obtaining a declaration of war from the Congress in the days after 11 September 2001].

Adobe: I’ll have to link Ace later today – thanks for that. My blood pressure is great because ‘It’s the end of the world as we know it / And I feel fine’ – at least most of the time. Occasionally I let the cretins get to me, but not often…and right now I can just dream that, in 18 hours, there’s a bottle of Maker’s Mark waiting for me with my name on it.

I have to take issue with Gregory Davis’ translation of jihad. Arabic words are formed around 3-letter roots. Other letters are added to those roots to make new words, whose meanings are largely connected to the original root. In the case of this word, jihad, JHD is the original root, and it means effort or struggle. Adding the aliph that changes the word from JHD to JHAD changes the meaning from struggle to a new word, which specifically refers to religious struggle. If there are any doubts about the nature of that religious struggle, they are addressed directly by “Reliance of the Traveller, a Manual of Sacred Islamic Law” which is easily purchased online. (The authority and accuracy of the manual are certified by Al Azhar University and other Islamic institutions.) Anyway, the manual defines jihad as “to make war against nonbelievers.” Period. It doesn’t get much clearer than that.

Steven: You’re very welcome – I wish I had gotten to it sooner. Is there any source on the web that you know of that I can link to with a better definition of Jihad?

And many thanks for the link, Bob!

Online, no. But the manual of Islamic law I’m referring to is easy to find. “Reliance of the Traveller, a Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law” by Ahmad ibn Naqib al Misri. The definition I mentioned is found on page 599. It says, “Jihad means to war against non-Muslims, and is etymologically derived from the word mujahida, signifying warfare to establish the religion.”

This is important because a – this confirms that the meaning of jihad is not the same as the meaning of the three letter root, JHD, which means struggle or effort and b – this is a matter of law under Islam, and not subject to individual interpretation.
