Over at IMAO, Frank has put together a very good presentation that explains why the Left believe people like Sarah Palin and organizations like Fox News are ‘Far Right’. Their lenses are distorted, like those in a Fun House [in this case, it would be called ‘The Fun House Of Fools’].

There’s an illustrative graph that helps prove the points he makes in his text:

Right now, the politically active left — journalist, pundits, most of the the politicians — are just way out there. So this is why FOX News looks so far right, because it is to the far right — of them. Like it’s way more far right than any other news media because it actually acknowledges the other side at all.

I’ve been ruminating on a mini-essay I plan to write on the political situation in this country called Before The Progressive Era. In it I plan to show how, up until around 1900, The ideas we associate with the Committed Left, the various tribes that inhabit it [Fascism, Socialism, Communism, etc.], virtually did not exist in America, did not play a part in it’s life. And how the various shades of what is considered the Right today were actually the Right and Left of the pre-Progressive Age. I hope to finish ruminating soon and begin my research, but Frank has inspired me, so perhaps…

    I only know Fox news from that (ahem) scathing expose OUTFOXED, which descended quickly into self-parody. Unfair and unbalanced, it probably did more good than ill to Fox’s ratings.
