Bob’s Musings: Wacht Am Potomac [Ongoing Updates Below]

03 November 2010 @ 09:11

0812 Hours…

-Now begins the hard slogging.

-We’re fighting a new War Of Independence.  We have a number of enemies, several fronts to defend, all of which we have to battle at the same time  and wage this War from.

-Yesterday was a victory, but not a decisive one.

-We won on several fronts, but we have not earned a triumph.

-This was the equivalent of The Battle Of Midway — we gave the Left a bruising and knocked them off their feet, but the blow was not enough to keep them down for the count.  Don’t kid yourself: this morning the Left is happy it survived as well as it did — they’re like the North Vietnamese: they’re in this for the long haul [at least thirty years, so far, and counting].

-The Socialists were able to muster their union and activist thug armies and rally on the left flank, preventing us from doing some broken-field running.  This was not Cannae.

-Fact: The majority, slim though it may be, of the American people are not with us.

-Fact: The majority of people in the 1760’s and 1770’s were not on the side of The Founding Fathers.

-Challenge: How do we pull off what The Founders did?  How do we convince more Americans to join our cause, The Restoration?  How do we make them see that the forces of Left seek nothing less than the destruction of The American Experiment and the enslavement of them to the state god?  How do we effectively counter the very effective stealth agenda of the Socialists [see: Radical-In-Chief by Stanley Kurtz for background]?

-I will be channeling Sam Adams a lot over the next weeks and months.

0855 Hours…

Speakers Of The House don’t cry!  There’s no crying in right wing politics!

-How about this for an opening salvo in the next phase of our struggle:

MICHELE BACHMANN FOR SPEAKER:
She Won’t Bawl As She’s Kicking Ass

-Captain Malkin fires a broadside: Take Your Olive Branch and Shove It, Democrats.

1331 Hours…

-Mike Pence is stepping down from the #3 position in the House GOP Leadership, possibly to run for Governor or President.  Michele Bachman, according to Politico, has thrown her hat into the ring to be Republican Conference Chairman.  We, of course, should do everything in our power to stop her — and see that she’s elected Speaker.  The tough times ahead are going to require inspirational leadership in the House.  Cryin’ John ain’t the right fit for that, ‘Kill The Bill’ Bachmann most definitely is.  The question is: what can we do to make this happen?

[tip of the fedora to both links above to Memeorandum]

-I am happy to see that the voters in Rhode Island had the sense to overwhelmingly reject the PC-based initiative to change the name of the place from State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations to State of Rhode Island [78% to 22%].

1421 Hours…

-Mark Steyn captures my feelings exactly:

I’ve been saying for some time that I wanted a big, explicit vote for a serious rollback of spendaholic government, and that, if it turned out as just a slightly-swingier-than-usual midterm, Obama & Co would conclude that the right would have insufficient will to, for example, repeal ObamaCare. With the Senate results, the slightly-swingier-than-usual interpretation will prove attractive to Democrat-media analysts. I was hoping for something more in the nature of wholesale electoral slaughter. We didn’t get that.

Keep your eye on the sparrow.

1435 Hours…

-Republican Rep. Darrell Issa is a dick.

1441 Hours…

-Over at Washington Rebel, Irish Cicero has a dream:

…Last night was a Tsunami-Lite, unfortunately. For today, at least, I’m praying that Obama fights all the harder. Show your true colors, my man. The blind need to see; the deaf need to hear.

The Instinctualists and The Sheeples need to be forced to see the light — with a 2×4, if necessary.

1854 Hours…

-It’s now time for The Fact That Makes Your Shake Your Head With Frustration Moment.  From Jim Hoft:

Thanks Karl Rove. Thanks Mike Castle. Thanks GOP elites.

Conservative Christine O’Donnell carried the tea party voters. She bested the bearded Marxist with independents.

But, she did not carry enough REPUBLICANS to win in Delaware tonight.

Darrell Issa may be a dick [see above @1435], but the Delaware Republicans are douche nozzles….sorry: stupid douche nozzles.

BTW Jim: We call him ‘A/V Club President Rove’ around here.

-I like Smitty’s message to those who think the TEA Party Movement will fade away:

…The Tea Party toothpaste will refuse re-toobing.

It’s also guaranteed to kill the germs that cause bad government.

-Here’s hoping the Bolshes lay low for a few days so we can all relax for a bit…yea, right.

More to possibly follow as the day winds on…

[NOTE: This posting will stay at the top of the Dispatches for the rest of today; see below for later blog postings.]

We don’t really need a Boudica, while she went out in a blaze of glory defeat is defeat.

No, the majority of America is not with us.

What we can do is continue to educate the public about the statist menace and hope to incrementally move the country back to the Constitution.

Let me add the importance of making Ron Paul chairman of the financial services committee. With QE2 and more bank bailouts on their way, “Dr. No” is the man America needs!

Adobe: She almost one and, to be honest, the odds are against us.

Majesty: Hopefully, before it’s too late.

TheCL: Rep. Paul and economics are a good fit – I think that’s a capital suggestion [pun intended]. Just keep him away from any leadership posts that have anything to do with the military.

Bodica lost because she fought the Roman’s strength. The NGO’s are the left’s Shenandoah Vally ( As a Virginian you have no idea how I hate using this analogy) most of the leftist politicians are not very bright and couldn’t design a policy without NGO help to save their lives.

Well, I happen to support the antiwar views of the military veteran Paul, who also supported our initial invasion of Afghanistan. Nation building doesn’t work. We can’t immanentize the world eschaton, especially by killing Americans to build Islamic States in Afghanistan and Iraq. Oh, and we don’t have the money. A broke nation is a weak nation.

But anyways … Bernanke’s QE2 announcement today confirms massive inflation is on it’s way and the Federal Reserve, America’s ultimate central planning authority, will continue destroying our economy, and thus the nation. Who else will stand up to these tyrannical nutjobs besides Ron Paul? He’s the only one with the knowledge and cojones.

He has the seniority too, but Establishment Republicans hate him. So will he get the nod? Who knows. Probably not.

Sell your government bonds and stock up on canned foods. The ____ will hit the fan before 2012. God help us all.

      1) I only said it to get you going [I know you so well].
      2) I wonder if we could launch a campaign to get Rep. Paul on a Committee?
      3) You didn’t have to blank out that word; just use the approved substitute.
      4) Come on, admit what you know deep in your heart: T. Jefferson was a pinko.

Perhaps Ms. Bachmann could be Elizabeth I?

(Speaking as one of her former State Senate constituents.)

I don’t think the Hapsburgs had as much bile as the Dems though.

  9. 03 November 2010 @ 21:20 21:20

We all know who the real Founding Pinko was … the effeminate John Adams. 😯

OK, sharia will hit the fan! I expect double-digit inflation by the end of next year. Interesting how QE2 was announced the day after the elections, isn’t it? All the press is focused on the Republican win instead, and as the inflation sets in over the next year, nobody will remember how and/or why it happened. Republicans will take the heat, Obama will become a “war president” by attacking Iran, and serve a 2nd term with another Democratic Congress.

    We’re doomed.

Justin Timberlake may have brought sexy back, but I’m bringing pessimism back!

Fab post, Bob. I think Pence is going for President. As good as today’s post is, if you’re going to be channelling Sam Adams, there’s no telling what comes next. Can’t wait.

Adobe: You win this one with your always-compelling reasoning. What do you think about MT’s suggestion?

MT: I agree about the Hapsburgs. What about those wild and wacky Hohenzollerns?

    TheCL:
    1) You can’t bait me on the great and glorious John Adams – next to Washington, our greatest Founding Father.
    2) Methinks you are an economic prophet.

Maggie: Thanks, Maggie. You’re so groovy.

  12. 04 November 2010 @ 09:26 09:26

YES! I’d support Pence. Clear on the issues, quick on his feet.

Ms. Bachmann has been significant part of the heart and soul of the movement to thwart the Bolsheviks and with out her dedicated encouragement I think some would have lost hope and we wouldn’t have made the progress we have. I’m not sure about her being supreme leader. I also doubt she’s interested in changing her name to Elizabeth.
Pence has potential, he’s been stalwart in opposing the Bolshevik agenda while at the same time not showing too high a profile. Unfortunately that’s necessary nowadays, although driving one’s enemies would be a lot more fun.
