It’s Don’t Use The Slip ‘N’ Slide Day, ‘Cause It’s Ten Buck Friday

03 September 2010 @ 13:45

‘Hey Bobahtollah!  Well, what in Allah’s name is Ten Buck Fridays?’, you ask.

Madam Maggie, Mesdames of Maggie’s Notebook, has the details over at her café.  A highlight it:

Conscientiously Conservative came up with a great idea. Each Friday she is donating $10 to a worthy conservative candidate now up to the November election. Several bloggers have joined the effort. Note that, if $10 is too much, do less, or do more if you can. The point is to get it on our calendars and in our minds – rather than putting it off for another time.

She’s got all the details on how easy it is to participate and what to do here.  There’s even a page for it on something called ‘Facebook’ [where hip people gather together to look at each other, I think (I wouldn’t know as hip to me, at my age, means replacement surgery)].

The winner of this week’s poll is Ilario Pantano, who is challenging Democratic Representative Mike McIntyre in NC-07.  Here’s part of what Michelle Malkin wrote about him recently:

…He’s the Marine sniper-turned-Wall Street trader who rejoined the military after 9/11, faced the death penalty for killing two Iraqi insurgents in the heat of battle in a terrorist-infested town near Baghdad, fought fiercely and successfully to clear his name, wrote the book Warlord chronicling his experiences, and defended other defenders who volunteer to put themselves in harm’s way for their countrymen.

Right Klik has information on the candidate [tip of the fedora to Nice Deb] and makes this well-reasoned appeal:

Economic and personal freedom will be available in the future only if we are prepared to make the necessary financial investments in leaders who will stand for our Constitutional rights and freedoms. If good candidates can’t get the money they need to run their campaigns from us (the grassroots), they’ll be forced to rely on special interest groups for their support. And then we’ll only have ourselves to blame for a country increasingly overrun by corruptocrats.

Quite.

You need to do what you can, every boy, girl, woman, and man.

Okay…now I’m off to deal with another matter…

Storm, Storm, Storm, Storm of Earl
Storm, Storm, Storm of Earl
Storm, Storm, Storm of Earl
Storm, Storm, Storm named Earl

As I-I blow through this world
Nothing can stop the Storm named Earl
And-a you, you are my goal
And no one can hurt me, oh no

Yes, my eye, oh, I’m gonna pass over you
Oh, oh, come on let me pass over you, Cape Cod
‘Cause I’m the Storm of Earl
So, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
