Fear And Loathing: California Schemin’

13 August 2010 @ 20:33

Took my chances on a big jet plane…

Stacy McCain is off on another adventure, this time to Cala-four-nigh-aaa.  There’s a bit of mystery surrounding this trip, as he explains [emphasis mine]:

…If you don’t remember my friend Ladd Ehlinger Jr., you’ll remember the World Greatest Campaign Ad he did for Dale Peterson. Ladd’s doing some work in California now — kind of top secret – and wants me to come hang out with him for a few days….

Hmmm…could Stacy be on a special black ops mission for the VRWC?  Have they given him a number and taken away his name?  Just asking….

Going To California with an aching in my heart…

Before he left, Stacy penned a touching little posting addressed to Mrs. Other McCain along with a sad little song embed that he scheduled to publish as he was in the air.

The sea was red and the sky was grey…

The mystery deepens in his first dispatch from La-La-Land: why is he staying in Woodland Hills, The Porn Capital Of The World?!?

At least he’s got his cover down pat [whoever Pat is]:

Among other things, the topic that interests me is the same question a lot of conservatives keep asking, “What the #$%* is wrong with the California Republican Party?” (Short answer: Everything.) Some of the stories I’ve heard about the incompetent bumbling of this state’s GOP . . . well, it’s sad and tragic. This is a year when there might be hope for Republicans in California, but if the state party can’t get its act together, opportunities will be lost.

California is not lost, but Republicans in this state have got to stop playing “me too” politics….

Too true — the stupidest of The Stupid Party seem to reside in California.

The mountains and the canyons started to tremble and shake…

Stacy filed a side report on a cultural trend out there that is not good.

I think I might be sinking
Throw me a line if I reach it in time…

In his next dispatch, Stacy reveals that the so-called journalists at one publication are showing incredible arrogance in refusing to cover at all Republican Mattie Fein’s challenge to Democratic Representative Jane Harman in CA-36.  A highlight:

In the e-mail sent Wednesday (see text below), Daily Breeze reporter Nick Green told consultant John S. Thomas of Thomas Partners Strategies, “Don’t call or e-mail us – we’ll call you if we’re interested. And if you haven’t got it yet, we’re not interested.”

Green also told Thomas not to send Fein campaign communications to his Daily Breeze colleague, Art Marroquin.

What an apparatchik loser.  But, sadly, this is commonplace, as we all know; it’s just that this jerk journalist is so brazen about it that he put it in writing.

They say she plays guitar and cries and sings…

In the latest dispatch [as of the writing of this posting], Stacy links an interview of Mattie Fein conducted by DaTechguy and he publishes a photo of the lovely lady proving that she has joined the Axis Of Fedora.

Throw me a line if I reach it in time
I’ll meet you up there where the path
Runs straight and high…

Keep checking over at Stacy’s place for more dispatches.

‘The ugly fallout from the American Dream has been coming down on us at a pretty consistent rate since Sitting Bull’s time-and the only real difference now, with Election Day…only a few weeks away, is that we seem to be on the verge of ratifying the fallout and forgetting the Dream itself.’

Stace is wearing the black coat of The Prisoner, Patrick McGoohan’s #6, who was imprisoned on a mind draining village because he had expressed opinions that were not in line with the department in which he worked. The whole time those that were in power were trying to break him and get useful ‘information’ out of him, but he was too quick for what came his way. meanwhile he kept demanding the identity of #1. The subsequent terminations and replacements resulted in a whole series of #2’s, each tasked to try to watch the village and deal with McGoohan. Everyone there were referred to by number only, and at the end of the show you could hear McGoohan cry out

“I am not a number! I am a free man!!”

    Love it.

nicholas: My favorite line is: I will not make any deals with you. I’ve resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own. I resign.

BTW: It appears that Mrs. B. has finally agreed to watch the series, so, good Lord willing, after we finish Elizabeth R, we’ll be heading to The Village.

Bob — I could tell you what Stacy’s up to, but then I would be subjected to… Degree Absolute.

Richard: I’m trying to piece it all together. I know he’s been declared UNMUTUAL. I racking my brain and you won’t help out an old pal.

PS: You’ve never minded before being subjected to Degree Absolute….Vodka.

Elizabeth R with Glenda Jackson. That was one quick, hard woman. Tough times. It didn’t due to get caught up in a conspiracy against the queen.

nicholas: A lot of the men back then used to complain that Liz was hysterical, but it seems it was the guys who were the ones losing their heads.

When you watch the series “finale” you’ll understand.

Richard: I do, Richard – I’ve seen the series at least a half dozen times and actually saw it as a lad of seven/eight when it first aired – so there. I’m coming to the belief that Barry [the new Number 2] thinks he’s actually Number 1 – which shows he truly just doesn’t get it.

No, it’s pretty obvious that Barry is Number 2, as a matter of fact, he is full of it.

Erich: He’s merely the new Number 2 – here’s a question: which Number 2 does he remind you of? Certainly not Leo McKern.
