Is California A Lost Cause? [Updated Below]

12 July 2010 @ 08:53

One has to wonder…

The GOP nominees for Governor and Senate are two women, Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina respectively, who are not in any way, shape, or form TEA Party-types.  Both are more of the same we’ve come to expect from The Stupid Party: ‘moderates’ [aka: RINOs] of varying degrees who are part of The Establishment and both subject to whining and pettiness.  They are both corporate divas who have an inflated opinion of themselves and their abilities, and live in a world that precludes them from having an understanding how normal, average people live.  The two are also feminists who were brought up and influenced by the feminism of the 1970’s and 1980’s — the period when the movement really went off the rails.  Oh, they love to sound like  true conservatives now, but their pasts reveal that they are not.

The past number of years have seen California governed by a RINO who has played footsie with the Leftists and helped drag the state down further into a fiscal abyss.

Over at American Power, Donald Douglas has up a very good posting on these two and the situation out there, with a link to an article on the personalities of the two women.  While it focuses on their different personalities, I ask you to look at in light of what I’ve written above.

Mzz. Whitman and Mzz. Fiorina are more of the same old, same old.  The trouble is, these times call for the exact opposite.  The GOP in the state chose them over true conservatives in the face of the searing truth that something more, in the spirit of The Founders, was demanded by the times.

So, while in pretty much the rest of the country the TEA Party spirit is flourishing, in California, once the trend-setter for the nation, it’s 1990.

UPDATE on 13JUL2010 at 0855…

-Over at Three Beers Later, Richard has the details on Meg Whitman’s playing both sides on the immigration issue.

A question arises: Did she think we were so stupid that we would not notice?

-Apologies for misspelling Carly’s last name: it is FioRINO, not Fiorina.

    Yes and no.

The governorship and Boxer’s senate seat are effectively lost to real Republicans. Think of Whitman and Fiorina as “Bloomberg’s Bitches” and you’re pretty much on the mark.

A lot of that is due to the inactivity of the GOP at the state level, while at the county level the party leadership faced a lot of internal turbulence. For example, in LA County the GOP committee had to fight off a lunatic challenge by Paulies that got so weird the Paulies actually tried to hijack the party name and start a ‘shadow GOP’ complete with ‘official party website’ when they lost the vote, followed by an absurd lawsuit that got thrown out of court.
Meanwhile the NRSC was pushing Fiorina as the Anointed One under Steele’s candidate model (aka “Where the rich white wimmin at?”)

Plus the deranged Whitman ran a vicious ad campaign against her own party, spending nearly $90 million by some accounts.

There is a bright side. There are several strong Congressional candidates in CA, with effective operations in their local districts.

But no way do we see the gains the GOP could have realized in CA.

Thanks, Richard; this is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for.

There are good Conservative in California they just have no chance of rising to the top. Until the words of people like Victor David Hanson and Bill Whittle and policies of people like Chuck Devoe become conventional wisdom, Mexifornia is doomed. I suspect the story ends with something like a combination of “Lucifer’s Hammer” and “A Clock Work Orange”.

Meg Whitman yells at her housekeepers in English, She can’t imagine any Republican would need to know Spanish if she doesn’t.
