Snarlin’ Arlen With The Sour Grape Face

19 May 2010 @ 14:49

Snarlin’ Arlen Spector is a now a spectre of his old self and he’s also not very happy, having been defeated for in the Senate Democratic Primary in Pennsylvania last night.

A man without any honor or dignity, he will not be missed by his colleagues in ‘the greatest deliberative body in the world‘.

The handwriting had been on the wall for quite some time.  He knew the odds were against him.  So, you would think he would have planned to exit the scene with some class and a little grace — the last impressions you leave are often the ones people remember.  His would have never been a stellar reputation on the level of a Robert Taft, but he could have gotten for himself eventually [after most of his colleagues had passed] the sobriquet ‘respected member of the Senate’.

However, Snarlin’ Arlen decided not to go that way.  It was too much for him to hold his tongue and mold his face into a dignified look.  Instead, he molded his face into a big ol’ sour grape.  From the Politico, Andy Barr reporting [tip of the fedora to Clifton B. at Another Black Conservative]:

As voters considered his fate throughout Pennsylvania, Sen. Arlen Specter warned on Tuesday that without him Democrats may not be able to fend off a tea party “takeover.”

“What you see happening across the country is that the tea party organization has taken over,” Specter said in an interview with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell.

“We know what happened to [Sen. Bob] Bennett [R-Utah], what happened to [Florida GOP Gov. Charlie] Crist,” Specter said.

“If we’re not careful, if you don’t field the strongest candidate — frankly, like Arlen Specter — they’re going to take over,” Specter said of the tea parties. “Beating the tea party gang is more important than who does the beating.”

“They want to go back to the gold standard,” he added. “It’d be an 18th-century America.”

No class, but, hey, what do you expect from a narcissistic dishonorable cretinous louse who was a parasite in the bowels of the American Taxpayer for decades?

Clifton is shedding no tears:

Yeah, Arlen whatever. Enjoy the unemployment line you self-serving SOB….

Clifton raises a very good point: most Senators and House members when they retire go to work at think tanks or in an Administration or become lobbyists or get hired as network pundits.  What think tank would hire this pedantic poseur?  Do you think Barry-O wants him anywhere near his cabinet?  What would he be able to lobby for?  The Organization Of Snooty, Patronizing, And Supercilious Egomaniacs Of America?  Is MSNBC or CNN really that desperate?

Michelle Malkin is moved enough to sing:

…Na, na, na, hey, hey, hey, goodbye, Sen. Specter. You will not be missed.

Pundette is hoping, in Steve Allen’s words, that This Could Be The Start Of Something Big:

It’s open season on RINOs and other assorted weasels.

Lock and load people.

Did anyone notice how Arlen Specter looks like Al Bundy at 90?

Al Bundy is a hero of mine [slides hand into front of pants]. If you want me, I’ll be down at the nudy bar.
