-Patterico has up a fine recap of what happened, as far as we know, to Aaron Walker yesterday, along with some good analysis. A highlight:

So Brett Kimberlin, knowing that Aaron was coming to court to defend against a civil “peace order,” lay in ambush with a criminal charge, so that Aaron would be arrested.

One wonders if this is his new strategy: he sues you for your blogging, and simultaneously obtains a peace order saying you harassed him. If you blog about him again, he gets a judge to rubber stamp a criminal complaint for violating the peace order.

Now, if you don’t show up for the lawsuit, he gets a default judgment. If you do, you get arrested for blogging.

Catch 22. And a nice scam if you can get judges gullible enough to go along with it.

Kimberlin knew how to use the system so that by the time Walker arrived in court on Tuesday, he had no idea there already was a warrant for his arrest.

‘Lying in wait’ is the appropriate term, I reckon.

I visited the district office of my congressman this morning, Representative John Campbell of California’s 48th Congressional District….

Rep. Campbell, a Republican, sits on the House Financial Services Committee. The committee’s jurisdiction extends to “all issues pertaining to the economy” and includes “efforts to combat terrorist financing.” And the committee oversees the Treasury Department, the cabinet-level agency which includes the Internal Revenue Service within its organization authority.

I spoke briefly with District Director Lou Penrose. I delivered to him a number of documents.

Led Zeppelin II has died.

Not the album … the man.

Zeppelin, of downstate Bethalto, near St. Louis, was known most of his life as George Blackburn before officially changing his name last fall.

"He and Mom got divorced and he wanted to start his life over, like a new chapter," said his daughter Mindy Baker of Seattle, adding that her father had seen Jimmy Page and Robert Plant’s English band probably about 20 times in its heyday of the late 1960s and early ’70s. "He had always liked Led Zeppelin since they came out, and it was just time to do it.

"My mom says that he talked about it for probably five years before the divorce."

The 64-year-old Zeppelin "climbed the ‘Stairway to Heaven’" May 18 at Alton Memorial Hospital, according to a death notice published in newspapers, including the Tribune. He died of a heart attack, his daughter said.

She said her father redid his living room in album covers following the divorce, his third. That included, of course, Led Zeppelin’s, but also those of AC/DC, Jethro Tull and Pink Floyd, among others.

"I reinvented myself," Zeppelin told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch last fall, after the name change was made official in Madison County court. "Since I became Led Zeppelin, my life has improved a thousand fold."

I was wondering why they would leave this uncorrected and then my Cynical SOB side [I am the Coolest SOB] kicked it and the morning of revelation dawned for me: they’re going to blame the speechwriter for the insult. Hell! It was in the teleprompter that way…what was Obama to do?!? The teleprompter acted stupidly!

For starters: There’s no law that demands you read every damn word that’s on it. Any half-literate would have known just the phrase itself was awkward – how often has anyone who has been paying attention ever heard them referred to as ‘Polish Death Camps’? As Adrienne commented:

How in hell could someone be so dumb as to refer to Polish death camps? In my entire life I have never heard one single mention of "Polish death camps" – because there is no such thing.

…The Poles see right through our scholarly president’s pretensions.When a White House spokesman says the president “misspoke,” is he saying that Obama mis-read the teleprompter or some staff flunkie, who probably majored in Holistic Healing or something in college, got it wrong? The fact that the fact checkers and other vetters who are supposed to prevent this sort of thing missed it too does not speak well for the aggregate IQ of the White House staff.

Or the president’s knowledge of history.

After three-plus years, methinks the whole world sees right through the jug-eared wonder.

But what really strikes me about this video is how bad, how truly awful Obama is as a speaker. Look at the video: he’s like a robot looking from teleprompter to teleprompter, never makes any attempt to look at the audience, and they’re so far apart all we see are the two sides of his head.

It’s profiles in discourage.

It’s bloody pathetic.

What really, really annoys the living crap out of me is when I hear someone on the Right begin a sentence with: ‘While Obama is a great speaker…’. No, Clyde, he’s not. Never has been nothing more than mediocre. His cadences lack rhythm. He’s head swishing, when he’s reading off a teleprompter, are way too obvious and, ultimately, annoying. His hand gestures would be frowned upon by Toastmasters. He’s bland, dull, uninspiring, and a pablum-puker.

Perhaps support for BHO among veterans can be attributed to head injuries.

Spot-on.

I mean…what the heck else could explain it?

-Unforeseen side effect of MRE’s?

-Chemicals in the uniform that alter the neuron paths in the brain?

-They’re all Air Force?

-Perhaps, it proves that even brave men are human and do completely stupid things now and again?
