On The Nature Of The Enemy
In a recent post, I once again expressed my firm belief that the governments of America at all levels are in the control of ‘those who are fundamentally transforming The United States into a perverse version of what The Founders created’.
It has been our fate to suffer through and witness the end of The American Republic.
Over two hundred years ago, Edmund Burke watched France succumb to Revolution and, in Letter II of his Letters On A Regicide Peace, he observed:
…What now stands as government in France is struck out at a heat. The design is wicked, immoral, impious, oppressive: but it is spirited and daring; it is systematic; it is simple in its principle; it has unity and consistency in perfection. In that country, entirely to cut off a branch of commerce, to extinguish a manufacture, to destroy the circulation of money, to violate credit, to suspend the course of agriculture, even to burn a city or to lay waste a province of their own, does not cost them a moment’s anxiety. To them the will, the wish, the want, the liberty, the toil, the blood of individuals, is as nothing. Individuality is left out of their scheme of government. The state is all in all. Everything is referred to the production of force; afterwards, everything is trusted to the use of it. It is military in its principle, in its maxims, in its spirit, and in all its movements. The state has dominion and conquest for its sole objects, —dominion over minds by proselytism, over bodies by arms.
Let us break his observation down to see how it reflects our present situation…
–What now stands as government in France is struck out at a heat.
Leftists are very emotional people. They are Zealots for their causes and invest all of their efforts with feverish commitment. Having rejected Right Reason and, therefore, all prudence and restraint, they are left with only the presence of their swirling feelings, their unsated whims, their unrestrained passions and agitations. The Leftists suffer from a chronic fever of excitement for their Ideology and, therefore, any plans or schemes they devise are always conjured in the heat of the moment, bereft of cool and calm consideration.
–The design is wicked, immoral, impious, oppressive: but it is spirited and daring; it is systematic; it is simple in its principle; it has unity and consistency in perfection.
The Leftists seek Utopia, which is a state where all Human Beings exist in Perfection. They believe that Heaven On Earth, the re-engineering of Mankind into beings that fit in their fervid imaginings, can only be achieved by the utter and total destruction of all of the institutions and values that have existed and made Life what it is. Their zealousness makes them bold and fearless. Their rejection of Morality grants them license to do whatever it takes to drag Mankind to The Deathless Shore Of Nirvana, to Immanentize The Eschaton. Their belief in Pure Logic [ie: Logic untempered by Reason] allows them to march forward in well-planned and coordinated ways. The Left’s ultimate goal is simple and easy to understand. It appeals to the child that still inhabits the Souls of those adults who refuse to face the world in a mature way.
–…entirely to cut off a branch of commerce, to extinguish a manufacture, to destroy the circulation of money, to violate credit, to suspend the course of agriculture, even to burn a city or to lay waste a province of their own, does not cost them a moment’s anxiety.
Because the end is all and, unrestrained by anything, they can employ any means necessary. The Leftists are emotional cripples, spoiled children who refuse to accept any limitations on their behavior because they believe that their system of ideas, their Ideology, is Perfection. The Left believes they, in their ‘authentic’ wisdom have transcended all of the values and Virtues of Mankind. In the sterile laboratories of their own minds, far away from Reality, they have created Perfection. And nothing — absolutely nothing — must be allowed to stand in the way of the progress towards their Perfection.
–To them the will, the wish, the want, the liberty, the toil, the blood of individuals, is as nothing. Individuality is left out of their scheme of government. The state is all in all.
The Leftists know that most of Mankind is not ‘Illuminated’ as they are, so Heaven On Earth must be imposed on the majority for their own good. And, if any of the majority resist too much and cannot be broken on the wheel of their superiority, well then, they can be discarded for the Good Of The Cause — they can be murdered. And what better tool to achieve either of these outcomes than the all-powerful State? The State is to be worshiped, the Left believes, because it has the best potential to bring about Utopia because it is the most efficient tool of force.
–Everything is referred to the production of force; afterwards, everything is trusted to the use of it. It is military in its principle, in its maxims, in its spirit, and in all its movements. The state has dominion and conquest for its sole objects, —dominion over minds by proselytism, over bodies by arms.
Or somethimes both:
O’Brien smiled slightly. ‘You are a flaw in the pattern, Winston. You are a stain that must be wiped out. Did I not tell you just now that we are different from the persecutors of the past? We are not content with negative obedience, nor even with the most abject submission. When finally you surrender to us, it must be of your own free will. We do not destroy the heretic because he resists us: so long as he resists us we never destroy him. We convert him, we capture his inner mind, we reshape him. We burn all evil and all illusion out of him; we bring him over to our side, not in appearance, but genuinely, heart and soul. We make him one of ourselves before we kill him. It is intolerable to us that an erroneous thought should exist anywhere in the world, however secret and powerless it may be. Even in the instant of death we cannot permit any deviation. In the old days the heretic walked to the stake still a heretic, proclaiming his heresy, exulting in it. Even the victim of the Russian purges could carry rebellion locked up in his skull as he walked down the passage waiting for the bullet. But we make the brain perfect before we blow it out. The command of the old despotisms was “Thou shalt not”. The command of the totalitarians was “Thou shalt”. Our command is “Thou art”. No one whom we bring to this place ever stands out against us. Everyone is washed clean. Even those three miserable traitors in whose innocence you once believed — Jones, Aaronson, and Rutherford — in the end we broke them down. I took part in their interrogation myself. I saw them gradually worn down, whimpering, grovelling, weeping — and in the end it was not with pain or fear, only with penitence. By the time we had finished with them they were only the shells of men. There was nothing left in them except sorrow for what they had done, and love of Big Brother. It was touching to see how they loved him. They begged to be shot quickly, so that they could die while their minds were still clean.’
This is the enemy we are facing.
It is too easy to say that the beliefs of Leftists are the ravings of madmen — though they are — but these lunatics are now running the asylums.
They are Evil.
And Evil cannot be coddled or caged. It must be destroyed.
