‘Every Act Which May Define A Tyrant’

15 January 2013 @ 14:52

By his statements and actions over the past several weeks, it should be clear – finally – to any person that dares call them self ‘intelligent’ that Barack Hussein Obama is a Tyrant.

First a definition from The Collins English Dictionary [2003]:

tyrant [ˈtaɪrənt]n 1. (Government, Politics & Diplomacy) a person who governs oppressively, unjustly, and arbitrarily; despot

2. any person who exercises authority in a tyrannical manner

3. anything that exercises tyrannical influence

4. (Historical Terms) (esp in ancient Greece) a ruler whose authority lacked the sanction of law or custom; usurper
[from Old French tyrant, from Latin tyrannus, from Greek turannos]

Mark Levin puts it better than I probably could [tip of the fedora to Jeff Goldstein and Real Clear Politics]:

I’m not into imperial presidents who act imperial and speak imperial and Obama forgets there’s a Constitution. Yes, he keeps telling us he won reelection. Congratulations, but guess what? The Constitution wasn’t up for election, it’s not up for a referendum. He has to comply with it, too.

He was sent back to Washington, but he’s got a strict list of rules that he has to follow as president. When he gets up there and starts saying, if Congress doesn’t do this, I’m going to do this unilaterally, it violates separation of power a lot of the times. And this is a man pushing the edge of the envelope as far as I’m concerned, whether it’s the appointment clause, whether it’s his unilateral action on immigration, whether it’s trashing the commerce clause and the tax clauses under Obamacare. Now they’re talking about executive orders on the Second Amendment. They’ve issued regulations on First Amendment attacking religious liberty. This notion that he might be able to lift the debt ceiling, you know, unilaterally under the Fourteenth Amendment.

What the hell is this? He was elected president. Congratulations. This guy makes Richard Nixon look like a man who followed the law all the time. I think we have an imperial president, he sounds imperial, he’s arrogant as hell and I’m furious about this and I’m going to tell you why. We are a magnificent country. We don’t need to be turned upside down. We don’t need to run from crisis to crisis to crisis. He’s bankrupting this country.

He said we’ve had a discussion about the debt. When did we have a discussion about the debt? We’ve had a debate about taxes. The man’s never around to have a discussion about anything. So, yes, he causes me to be furious when I watch and listen to him.

(FOX News Channel’s America Live with Megyn Kelly, January 14, 2013)

Nile Gardiner thinks Mr. Levin is right and comments [tip of the fedora to William Jacobson]:

It was the clearest signal yet from the White House that Obama’s second term in office will be deeply arrogant in tone, dismissive of any criticism, contemptuous of Congress, and averse to political compromise. It will also not be serious at all about cutting the deficit, reducing government spending, or addressing entitlement reform. For, as Levin argues, this is an imperial presidency, one that frequently acts with impunity and lavishly spends taxpayers’ money with abandon while encouraging a growing dependency on the federal government, with a staggering 128 million Americans now on government programmes – 41.3 percent of the population. Today’s defiant White House pres conference does not bode well for Obama’s second term. The president’s first four years were an economic disaster. Expect more of the same, and even worse, in the next four.

Oh, I think we can expect worse, sir, because this is someone who believes that he is a Child Of Destiny, that this is His Moment. And, Mr. Gardiner, unlike Britain, we have a written constitution that cannot be discarded at whim, as Obama and the Democrats have and keep doing. Such people are not simply bad actors with imperial pretensions, but are, in fact, Tyrants.

William Jacobson has come up with a wonderfully accurate handle for Obama: Tyrannysaurus Rex.

Obama is a Tyrant and he is a dinosaur because he believes in a system of ideas [Leftism] that is extinct.

More Mark Levin, this time from his radio show [special thanks to The Right Scoop for all the hard work he does]:

If Obama unilaterally acts [on the debt ceiling] – and I think there’s a fan dance going on here where his spokes-idiot Carney is out there saying ‘no, we’ve decided we’re not going to do this’ – if Obama, though, plays the role of Hamlet and in the end says ‘I have not choice, the Republicans are going to destroy our economy, our debt rating, all this that and the other, therefore I must unilaterally act,’ he should be impeached!

Because that means Congress’ core power – in addition to declaring war – Congress’ core power, that is control over spending and taxing, will have been seized by the president of the United States in one executive order. NO Congress would tolerate this from any president! I don’t care if the president was Abraham Lincoln. This Congress would not have tolerated it from Richard Nixon. No Congress can tolerate such a complete and brazen frontal assault on its enumerated power. No Congress! No twisting of the language in the 14th amendment or any way else. Because we will cease to be a federal government of three coequal branches.

Obama already has committed many impeachable acts, but Mr. Levin argues that legally it would be better to take such action against him for acts committed in his second term, so we should wait until he inevitably does.

Jeff Goldstein comments:

This is fascism. This is a coup. Just because it comes dressed in pleasing nannystate pastel bromides doesn’t make it any less what it is.

This.

‘A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people’ —The Declaration Of Independence.

It’s really scary that we knew pretty much the direction he was going to take given another four years, and he was still voted in. I hate to be too pessimistic, but how the heck are we going to turn this around? The leaders on our side just give him everything he wants. A Supreme Justice who we thought was on our side gave us Obamacare! It feels as though there’s only one party anymore – and it ain’t ours.

And here is our hypocrite in chief… But he is more malicious…

I cry for the inheritance we have squandered. The “Patriot Dream that sees beyond the years,” never saw this.

And the soda and salt nazi cheers him on to greater tyranny. No surprise there really.
