…is awarded to Andrew Stuttaford for this bit of delightfully scathing commentary on Mayor Nanny Bloomberg:
As his wars against salt, trans fats and so on have made all too clear, Nurse Bloomberg is a man with a peculiar sense of priorities.
And so he claims to believe in man-made climate change, but appears to have done little or nothing to strengthen New York City’s infrastructure against the increased risks that climate change is supposedly already bringing in its wake. Supporting grand plans at grand conferences might appeal to Bloomberg’s sense of his own grandeur (even if the difference those grand plans would allegedly make would not be felt for decades, or longer, or ever), but as to doing something that could potentially (if you follow the logic of AGW) make a difference now, something that would involve, you know, engineering and construction, rather than simply bossing people around, well, that’s not what this grubby little despot is about.
Spot-on.
Correction: Grubby little weasel despot.
All politcians have a bit of weasel in them.
We’re hoping Mitt Romney has more Honey Badger than Weasel.
His priority is global warming over unemployment? Well, he’s not going to have to do without so why should he care. With that kind of thinking, he has to be a liberal.
