On The Road Again

22 April 2011 @ 10:46

Speaking of The Donald…

Silverfiddle issues a succinct takedown of the blustering braggart. A highlight [tip of the fedora to Gator Doug]:

OK, Trump fans, time to cut The Donald loose. I like how he injects some real talk into the political discussion, especially in the realm of international trade and diplomacy. But he’s also a Hollywood blowhard who will say anything to get attention.

Trump is not Obama’s worst nightmare—He’s the GOP’s guarantee of failure in 2012. His hinting at a third-party run reveals his "I wanna be president" stunt to be nothing more than an egomaniacal road trip.

That last phrase ‘egomaniacal road trip’ is so good, it just made my day. Thanks, Silver.

To those of you that are thinking of supporting Gump, er, Trump, I say: look, it’s time to cut the cheese[sy] and get serious.

We’ll not be rid of the Donald until there is another candidate who can speak as forcefully while making more sense. It looks like Bachmann will run and Pawlenty will certainly run. The rest of the pack gingerly sticking their toes in the water need to demonstrate some passion. Everyone who is pissed on the right side of politics is a potential Trump supporter. This is because people are looking for someone who wants to unseat O’Sputnik because that candidate is angry too.

Adobe: The biggest problem for conservatives is that a number of our kind may be taken-in by Trump’s tough-talking act. I really wish Bachmann would concentrate on overthrowing Cryin’ John and his toadies – I think she’d make a damn fine Speaker. I don’t think running for President plays to her strengths. She’s a Marine and is best in the trenches. We need a Patton, a fightin’ Army General, to run for the Presidential Nod. Trump reminds me of that gung-ho guy in war movies who gets his men into trouble and is killed at the end of Act I [see: 2nd Lt. Henry Herrick on We Were Soldiers].

The biggest problem for Conservative is that none of our leaders are as pissed as we are or if they are they are afraid to show it. Trump isn’t going away unless and until somebody can capture that anger. Trump is expressing that anger without really giving policies that address that anger. Until somebody does that get used to seeing Trump on the news and in the Blogs day in and day out. Hell he’s been trashed by pundits from both sides he’s got to be on to something.
We all know we aren’t going to take Libya’s oil but it’s nice to contemplate such bold ideas.

P.S. Can you picture Trump and O’Sputnik on a stage and picture Trump pissing the sput off enough to get him to take a swing or stalk off the stage or just throw a hissy fit?

Adobe: Dead. Solid, Perfect. The line Trump isn’t going away unless and until somebody can capture that anger is so damn true. It worries me that none of ‘em have done that yet. BTW: Little Barry wouldn’t take a swing at anybody; he’d slap like a girl.
