Wacht Am House
Over at Maggie’s Notebook, Dame Maggie has published a very useful report on the promises being made by the incoming GOP Leadership in The House.
While all of them are important and we have to hold them to their word, to me, this is the most crucial one [emphasis mine]:
Speaker of the House-elect John Boehner has announced strict new rules for the 112th Congress. Most important among them is adhering to the U.S. Constitution when writing legislation, and proving it by citing constitutional authority when bills are submitted and signing-off on it with their signature.
You can have all the transparency you want, be as frugal and as fiscally responsible as Vicki McClure Davidson, make all members declare their votes in the clear light of the sun, eliminate the Doublespeak of Committee names, but it don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that Constitutional Swing.
2011: THE YEAR OF THE WOLVERINES!
Did somebody say ‘Guardians Of Liberty’???

You are so right, Bob. If someone isn’t examining the sign-off, we’ll be duped again. We know how these jokers lie. I’m wondering if they will have to read the Constitution to cite the Article? Surely they will. They wouldn’t have a clue otherwise.
Can’t wait to hear the name of the first Liberal who chooses a citation out of thin air and gets caught.
Thanks so much for the lovely link!
Let it be so.
One would think the oath to support and defend the Constitution would be sufficient, but then again, it’s been a while since a politician’s oath meant anything.
Dame Maggie: You’re very welcome. They’ll have their staffers read The Con.
Steven: Damn right.
