Up Where I Don’t Belong [Updated Below]
Once again I have to ask for another indulgence from all of you for not posting much yesterday and today. The blame squarely rests on the tiny shoulders of my oldest grand-niece [and yesterday, partially, on her younger sister].
We took the two girls out for a simple lunch yesterday, but, per usual, it turned into a multi-hour visit, with us, at least, being smart enough to deny the youngest one caffeine this time.
Now, in about an hour, we will be leaving for the older one’s 80′s-themed Birthday Party. All of the attendees are supposed to dress-up in 1980′s clothing. Mrs. B. is resisting as she was into that whole Urban Cowboy thing back then [this was, of course, long before I met her, as I would have never hung around with a gal duded-up like that (unless it was Debra Winger)]. Methinks she’s embarrassed by that and her disco past [since we've met, I've trained her to like Led Zeppelin, Ozzy, The Band, etc.], so I can’t blame her [although she does look hot in cowboy boots and jeans]. I told our grand-niece that I would dress exactly as I did throughout the 1980′s. She will be disappointed to find out it is pretty much the way I still dress today [outside of work]: black jeans, flat-toed black boots, black shirt, Ray-Bans. The only thing I no longer wear is the skinny black tie, so I dug one out [all-black, of course].
Anyway…depending on how long we stay, I may do some blogging in the late afternoon / early evening, but, be assured, Rule 5 Saturday will happen.
To tide you over: how about a couple of songs to I couldn’t include on the 80′s mix I made for the teenybopper’s [she's turned 12] party:
The Clash…
Ultravox…
Human Sexual Response…
UPDATE…
I’ve got to include this classic by the Humans, Jackie Onassis…

That sounds like you had lots of fun partying!
I know you, your wife and the whole family had loads of fun.
Your nieces are getting a proper education on the really great 80′s bands.
PS: I saw Robot’s great post on your blog today…you’re his feature of the week.
I agree with all his glowing review of your site, Bob.
Bunni: The only disappointing thing about the party was that Mrs. B. and I were the only adults that dressed-up for it.
I just read The Robot’s post – he is too kind and so are you. Thank you [you arnd he aren't so bad yourselves, you know].
