    Tragic, just tragic from a human heart perspective. 40 years! As Blake Edwards says (*Skin Deep*), one doesn’t spend that many years together and not undergo one another’s ends as well. I am no lover of Al Gore — he has been going insane with increasing momentum for decades, ashamed of himself in light of his father, as well he should be, and hurting his country and family — but this breaks everyone’s heart, discourages even the dauntless. Tipper is … a wife, mother and a lady, no matter what else. And beautiful still, whereas he has gone pure ugly with senility. Even though the reason for it can be seen — scientific humanism loses its wheels inevitably, because it denies the vertical component of life, wrecking all life around it — it is heartbreaking:
