The State Of His Fantasy World

28 January 2010 @ 10:48

As I mentioned in a posting last night, I spent my evening watching paint dry insetad of watching Julius Obamacus Caesar’s State Of The Empire Union Address.  Reading the live and after blogging on the SOTEU I see that my decision was, indeed, the best one [I have come away with a much greater appreciation of the drying properties of Benjamin Moore paints].  However, being the concerned and active citizen I am, I have spent a decent chunk of my time this morning catching-up on what our Fearless Leader said before his toadies the Congress last night.

-Stephen Green, the Vodkapundit, who drunk blogged the event, had the best overall analysis and commentary.  He was able, through the enlightening clarity that only martinis can bring IYKWIMAITYD, to distill [pun intended] the essence of what Comrade Obamnin was actually meaning, because, as we’ve all learned, some of us the hard way, what he says ain’t what he means.  Here’s a few highlights in chronological order [Colorado time] that will give you a taste of the greatness that is Vodkapundit drunk blogging:

5:58PM Here comes the Cabinet, currently thankful for more than a dozen jobs saved or created.

6:00PM I couldn’t quite make out what Rahm was saying, or who he was saying it to, but the expression made me think, “Fredo, I knew it was you.”

6:13PM “We must answer history’s call.” Dude, you should have gone before you left.

6:18PM This is a government that “embodies our strength?” We’re f*cked.

6:28PM High-speed trains! Green jobs! I’ve learned nothing! Applaud your impending demise!

6:34PM Obama cures cancer!

6:41PM Obama owns your college debt! But he cures cancers! And has Pells!

6:49PM We’re gonna cut all the spending I just proposed!

6:57PM Obama just promised to give us the government we deserve. Haven’t we suffered enough already?

7:06PM Hey — foreign policy. Remember that? And he’s ending the war he one in Iraq with that big surge. Remember the Obama Surge?

7:10PM Nukes are the greatest threat? Nukes exploded over New York: None. Terrorist ripping the heart of of Manhattan: One. So I’m gonna go with putting getting rid of our nukes on the burner BEHIND getting rid of Iran’s nukes. Just a thought. Roll it around your brain a little. Try it out.

7:11PM Muslims cure climate change and maybe cancer and AIDS and blow up people who kick puppies! (I’m sure I’ve become confused.)

7:12PM OK. Now I’m mad. That rat-f*cker just claimed to support the protestors in Iran? He said maybe ONE thing since June of ‘08, and did nothing to actually help? I used to just disdain Obama. Now I hate him.

Please take the time and click here to read the whole thing.  You’ll come away understanding more than if you watched the damn thing.

-I like Michelle Malkin’s take on the final words of the speech:

Wrap-up summary of final speech remarks: People are cynical. Don’t blame me. I never promised you peace and harmony. Let’s fight. Let’s get things done. Forget about all my missteps over the last year. CHANGE (the subject)!

All that was missing was pixie dust.

-Speaking of pixies:

-By the way, here are some stats I compiled on the Address using the WhiteHouse.gov transcript:

Total words = 7,306

‘I’ = 105

‘me’ = 12

‘my’ = 10

‘myself’ = 1

Total self references = 128

‘we’ = 170

-Over at Legal Insurrection, William Jacobson does some top-notch analysis of, perhaps, the most disturbing part of the Address:

One aspect of the speech deservedly is receiving most attention: The crude attempt to intimidate the Supreme Court in front of the Congress and the nation. Here’s the relevant text:

With all due deference to separation of powers, last week the Supreme Court reversed a century of law that I believe will open the floodgates for special interests — including foreign corporations — to spend without limit in our elections. (Applause.) I don’t think American elections should be bankrolled by America’s most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities. (Applause.) They should be decided by the American people. And I’d urge Democrats and Republicans to pass a bill that helps to correct some of these problems.

The video shows the Supreme Court, surrounded by cheering and standing Democratic Congressmen and Senators, sitting mostly stone-faced in the face of the Congressional mob, except for Justice Alito who apparently mouthed the words “not true.”

Put aside for the moment that this is the same President who had his campaign disable credit card security features on his campaign website so that there would be no way to ensure compliance with federal campaign laws. This post is not about mere hypocrisy, which is a common trait in politicians.

The attack on the Supreme Court during the State of the Union was a window into Obama’s divisive soul. I have posted numerous times before about Obama’s need to identify and campaign against enemies. He did it during the campaign and he does it every day in office.

Last night it was (mostly) the bankers and Wall Street (which donated more money to his campaign than to Republicans) and the Senate Republicans who were his target. But it those were the only attacks, it would have been merely another typical political speech.

The attack on the Supreme Court exposes the intolerance of this President. The politician who campaigned and allegedly champions the rule of law actually has very little use for the rule of law when it does not advance his political agenda.

Last night was an attempt at intimidation, a chance to work the referees on the sideline during a home game with the guarantee of crowd approval.

Disgusting….but, hey, that’s what we’ve come to expect from this anti-American putz.
